IMHO, Alan Gunn's leather accys are the next best to OE. Four out of seven of the family's cars have his shift boots. Just get your thumbs ready for a workout!!!

I ordered their shift boot this week. It goes twice the price, but everyone says their stuff is quality.

Is it that challenging to put on?

I just ordered one from Alan Gun myself. Seems like every job I undertake on my car ends up taking me 4 times as long as everyone else experiences. So I guess I'll set aside 2 days for getting this one done.

It's a REAL tight squeeze to get the boot over the shifter, but it's not a hard job - just make sure you have the seam in the groove on the shift **** so it doesn't stick out. It'll take a lot of elbow grease and about 30 minutes.

I replaced mine with one from Rennbay. Cheap, and good quality! Looks perfectly stock.

I have a used brown leather boot complete with ****, original Porsche in good shape. $30.00 US including postage
My interior is black so I bought an Alan Gunn black boot. Broke the original disc getting it out, so I ordered that from Alan too. Here is a tip, run glue around the top of the boot, fold it over, push it into the hole and hold it there with an appropriate sized socket until the glue dries, Lube the socket with a little grease and make sure it's a tight fit. When the glue is dry remove the socket and push in the disc with the gearshift pattern on. The Gunn boot is nicely made of top quality leather. I also bought a black leather steering wheel cover and it turned out really nice.

Gunn does sell boots on ebay, if you don't see them there google "AGLA".

SHIFT BOOT
Thats what I have and its quite nice! It slides over the **** quite easily but I had to cut the elastic band at the bottom off for it to clip into the console.

It's longer than the OEM boot, which I think looks much better.

I just put an Alan Gunn boot in my car last weekend. I got it from Paragon for about $45. It looks totally stock and matches perfectly (burgundy). Talc is the key to work the boot over the ****. It just takes a bit of time and patience.

Default Shots of my ****

I just put it back in the car this morning. I am very picky, and I think that this is hard to distinguish from stock. Perhaps compared directly next to a stock **** in great shape you'd know the difference. I'm not a huge AGLA fan, but this product is right on the money.

By way of comparison, here's a somewhat grainy and off-color shot of the original. My original was actually in great shape until I leatheriqued it a couple of months ago. Afterward, several patches became suede-like and the whole thing just looked shot. It was very strange, as I've used leatherique on several things (including this **** and this car's seats) before and never seen anything like that happen. The old **** hardly even had a patina before -- it looked like a sad sack after.

Looks great although the title to your post is misleading. How hard was it to get on and how did you use the talc?
