confusing shifting behavior...
I dun't know if this is all in my head or if it's really happening...I'm hoping like hell it's all in my head...Anyway, car was warm driving around, and after a stop, I shift from first to second, and it seemed to provide resistance throughout the entire throw...not like a notchiness, but more like a "someone coated the joints of my shifter with Coca-cola, and now it's gooey...."
Anyone ever have this happen? I think just for luck I'm gonna change out my gear oil tomorrow...

Has the car been sitting? I degreased my tranny and then let it sit in the garage while building the rest of the car. The linkage rusted and now it takes two men and a boy to go through the gears. Possibly water iced up in the pivot points in the linkage also? I had an Ebrake cable actually freeze on me once in my first 944. The left rear was locked on for a little bit before the heat thawed it out and it released. Boy, when that thing popped off, I think that was my first experience with boost, lol. Good luck with figuring it out.

Well, I did get it out of the body shop yesterday after a week... other than that, no sitting...and as for freezing, in Colorado right now, that's doubtful...it's a beautiful sunny day, and 52 degrees out...I'm starting to think that it's just in my mind...

ah. gotcha. I'll put it up on a ramp tomorrow, and WD-40 the hell out of the shift linkage...
Dal, that does make sense, because they did do repairs on the rear driver's side, and IIRC, that's where the shift linkage connects to the transaxle...

Well it could be I should say. That dust is a PITA and likes to get up close and personal to grease and oil.
I just happened to see the shift was fine prior to the body work so common sense took over. That and I have an attitude towards body dust after completely sanding down 2 entire cars in the recent past. If the dust were cocaine I could blow my nose and sell it for 100 bucks! Nasty stuff!

Well, it is a new shift lever and socket... I greased it with white lithium grease...
I did also go out and move my car tonight, and it was shifting just fine...I'm guessing it was just in my head...
