Nicely done, though how could the stock transmission hold up to this? I would imagine you would need to find something a bit stronger.

Wow, nice. I like that some of them don't need the raised hood. What does an LS1 engine cost? I suppose the turbo tranny would be up to the task of this thing?

You can get one from a 98-02 F body or 04 GTO, or C5 Vette.

You dont think this can be done for that do you? Not even CLOSE to that amount for a turnkey car.

In the customer cars page, our on Rennlister, Predator is on there. He is the one from Brentwood Tn.

These conversions are 'hot rodding' at its finest. I was fully prepared to go this route with my 944. Initially i was looking at the LT1 with aluminum heads but the LS all aluminum engines kept creeking into the discussion. The fit is definately tight, the oil pan needs to be re-worked and a couple of things have to happen, but the engine weight is about the same as a 951 and the tranny and diff is plenty stout so this is a very doable project. The LS1-6 engines are very sopisticated push rod beasts and at stock will provide a very drivable supercar. My 944 though stays stock as this project once started will probably take a year and I wants to drives my car.

So um, how much would a LS1 actually cost? I'm guessing more than most 944s are bought for!

Predator's car was done properly. The fit and finish appear to be excellent. This car -the one showing the rearend? Sorry to be rude, but Ughhh. Mikey No Likey.

I would consider doing the LT-4 conversion to my car. Predator updated his Lt-1 to an LT-4 spec awhile back and that car is runnig close to (or over?) 400HP. With a late 951 trans and a reasonable approach to the go pedal, the rearend (he says) is survivng just fine. On the other hand, I have also seen some real hack jobs. If that's all I could afford to do, I'd skip the whole thing.

As for the inevitable 'lister who will pop in with the "bastardization" point of view? Well, I think the best response is if a V8 944 is a bastard, then a Cobra is a bastardized AC. Not a shred of difference except one was put into production and this one wasn't. I suspect a car like Predator's is probably at LEASt as well thought out as the original AC/Cobra was. Sure, they'll never be worth much, but they'll be fun.

Oh no I was basically saying, YUCK!

that flat black one is insanely weird and ugly, what was he trying to do with the lighting on the front. Theres some weird fog lights just sorta hanging there.....

Dan, I agree, I would never build one myself, but I'm sure they are a heck of a lot of fun... can you say sleeper???
