The Cayman S is coming...more than a boxster $
#16
The Cayman S will cost more than a base Boxster, but I'm hoping that for the next model year, they will bring out the 'base' Cayman and price it at least between the Boxster and Boxster S.
When the Cayenne first came out, the first model year only the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo S was available. A year later, they came out with the base Cayenne with the V6.

I'm planning on getting one of those three by this time next year, even if I have to sell the 951 for it. I'm hoping to hang onto the 951 until the Callaway is done (or at least "done enough" to drive, maybe not paint & new wheels & stuff), but oh yes, I certainly would do it.
It's also my "plan B" in case someone ever totals my 951 - I'd take the insurance check, buy the car back, part out what I could, sell everything else and then take THAT money towards an S2 cab, transplanting all the turbo components so scavenged into it. It's been thought of and when the time and funds permit, it will be done. . .

Something doesn't look right about those photos. Whats also strange is that both of those photos look like they have backseats. Which makes me wonder if its creative photoshopping of a 997 and a 987.
I would think the Cayman would be an aggressive 2-seater the way they are pumpin' it up so far.

The market should have been Elise Competition. Now its gonna be middle-aged men who want to feel sporty but have seen too many women drive Boxsters.
"I DRIVE A CAYMAN! IM A MAN! IM A CROCODILE!!!!!" And then they arent gonna have a clue about the mid-engine tendencies and totally spin on an off-ramp and then complain the car is "set up poorly" from the factory.

I should just run out and buy an older 993! Sure, my wife would kill me...but compared to the new stuff, that car was a true Porsche!
Cayman...K man. Maybe the marketing people at Porsche are Seinfeld fans!?
