Aside from the fact that wider isnt available (in a sidewall height we would want) the sidewall bows and flexes too much during cornering loads. In short, it would handle like sh*t.

If this is a daily driver, use 225 on 7" and for 8" - no wider. The reason? Rain performance. With a wider tire you will already be all over the road with those widths when it's monssoning.

If you're really interested, the manufacturers give guidance on what size rims to use for each type and size of their tires. www.tirerack.com has these available. I've found them elsewhere like on manufacturers sites as well. There's a lot of info in the tables like tread width and actual height.
