Talking Pile of 944s, 944fest Update!

Hiya folks.. Here's a little insight to what I do to make this shindig happen. I collect 944 die-casts and hot wheels and such all year to have enough to slap on top of trophies. Usually, it is a very labor intensive (drive all over to 40 stores) and expensive ($10 + each) project. Well, here is my collection so far. A couple of these are keepers, but most of them will end up on top of some sort of trophy for the event. A big gracias goes out to our missing man, Tifo, for he dropped a box of 4 hot wheels in my lap as a donation last month.
This is the LAST year I'm going to do this, next year (IF/WHEN) there will be a significant change in the trophy appearance. If you want to earn a trophy with a model 944/951 on top, this may be your last chance. I'm not saying what, but this type of project is running out of resources FAST. I'm extremely pleased to say I'm about done with the hunt for this year, 5 months ahead of schedule! (Thanks again TIFO!)
If anyone out there has any die casts you want to offfer up to a good cause, let me know. Remember, all prizes are only eligible once, meaning no repeated awards for "grand champion", "long drive" or "post *****". All Grand Champions are retired from competition.

I have a few I could send off as a donation. I wont be able to attend, but when I see 944 toy cars, i usually buy 2 of each...
Send me a PM, the two I have duplicates of arent shown in your picture.

FWIW, all of the pull back cars come with a white interior.. I dissasemble them and paint them flat black, so they look more like Fishey's car. All of those pull-back cars came from Discout Drug Mart stores in the area. They are manufactured by some company called JA-RU out of Jacksonville, FL. ja-ru won't make a single sale less than 2 grand, and even then I can't be so specific in the contents. It is a "bulk-crap" kind of outfit, and unfortunately they won't sift the gold nuggets from the sand for me. Anybody near Jacksonville want to go knock on their door for me?

---thanks, Chris!---

The awards vary, last year I gave out a lot. We had trophies for "Grand Champion", best modified, hosts' favorite, and smaller awards (944cabriolets like the blue ones above on faux marble bases) for post *****, highest mileage, appreciation awards to the Swift family (co-hosts) and the Dunkles, and a long drive trophy to Sid Viscous. (what did I forget?) There was some debate as to who deserved some of the trophies, Dunkles and Cuz came a long way too.. but the Dunkles had the engine in the wrong spot and Cuz had multiple events on his travel agenda and a trailer to boot.
This year the crowd is going to vote the winners in several categories, I'm not sure how I'll divvy up the classes yet. The only awards I'll pick will be hosts' choice, and the dyno numbers should speak for themselves. For dyno trophies I have 944 piston/rod assemblies that will be powdercoated with a car up top. I was going to keep it a secret, but if I can bait a few more dyno thumpers out with gorgeous unique trophies it will be worth the advertising. The dyno classes, each awarded #1 and #2, probably will be NA, Force Fed, and Special Fuels (Unlimited).
I doubt this year I'll be recognizing post ***** or doing appreciation items. I'll have a dozen awards to give out due to the dyno bit. Then again, you never can tell. It is good to be king, I just do whatever I want! (Hopefully, "what I want" is what is best for the 'fest and the crowd)
The "Best Interior" is a good idea, but I think you will see 30 or 40 cars out of 50 with an immaculate interior, it makes it tough to pick just one. I had a heck of a time choosing winners last year, this year I'm very pleased to be handing the duties over to the crowd.

Don't bet on it.. unless you come up with a front engine aircooler!

Least power on the dyno might just get a boobie prize..

Feel free to send me my trophy for "Best Overall *****" in advance.

Also, where is 944Fest going to be held?
