Question Anybody install a K&N cone filter?

I just bought one of these off EBAY and it has an adaptor, but there is no bracket to hold up the air flow meter. Any ideas? I figure I need to make one, and at the same time a shield to keep the hot air out, unless anybody has any other ideas?

The cone air filter has been proven in many threads (do a search) that it does not do much if anything for you. Maybe 1-2 hp if you're lucky.

Cold air is better than Hot air... stick with stock.

Put it back on ebay. The "benefits" of the cone filter definatly dont outweigh the downsides of sucking in nice hot air.

The K&N can give you more benefits, but you need to make a positive pressure closed airbox to house it.

What he said, seriously a cone filter is worse than stock unless you route it to the fender!

From what i have herd the cone filters if just set in the engine bay will actually give u less hp output becuase u are sucking hot air from the engine bay. The stick system is better for that reason just get a K&N that fits into the stock airbox. IF u really want to have a cone u must do what was pictured above that way it is taking in cold air. I personally have a K&N in the stock airbox.

You dont need a reason to say hi! It may be easier in the long run to go to the local and pick up a generic one over making one from scratch myself. Though I wanted a perspecs top!

OK y'all. My intention is to build a cone filter inlet and test it at the dyno. It shouldn't cost too much. I'll let you know what I find out. When racing 1 hp is a lot.

Damion, nice work. I can't get rid of the A/C (PCA rules), but I was thinking about something along the lines of putting the filter in the fender if the cone seems to flow better. I still can't see what is supporting the air flow meter (my main concern). Also are you sure it's OK to route the air line from the belt housing up tp the air inlet?

When racing 2 hp is a lot... but loosing 8 ft/lbs of torque isnt.

TheStig did a dyno on this and the above was his result
