Okay, does anybody know the thread pitch? I will stop and get a bolt and washers next time I'm out.
If it doesn't come out with just the bolt, then I'll start smacking too

Its just "M8". Metric standard. 8mm thread diameter, I think its 1 tooth/mm pitch. I think I used about a 50 to 80mm long one, with some washers. I think the socket was a 5/8ths ", and it was one of those "half deep" ones, not short, not deep.

it's the same bolt and thread as the ones for the clutch slave cylinder, that's the one I used on Jason's car. I threaded it in and hooked a slide hammer on the bolt and got it out. My other engines I've done were on the ground, out of the car and just drove them out with an extension(stop pin removed of course). I did leave the pin in place on Jason's car and used the slide hammer. I got the slide hammer at Autozone along with the internal puller attachment. I just hooked one of the two claws on the bolt and removed the pivot rod while in the car. Good luck

Probably 8mmX1.25 most of the bolts are either M6X1.0 or M8X1.25..Some of the M10's ad M12's can be tough to replace ..a thread pitch gauge will be of great help here. Some come in metric tap and die sets...or you might try the local hardware store..I think that Irwin may may make one or McMaster-Carr can help too.
