944 Frame, fixed with a F250
I would like to post this as a thank you to a friend, tomc_85.5_944. Tom got me into the 944’s by letting me drive his and then he found me a great deal on the 87 NA that I am now working on.
This past (very cold) weekend we got together to ‘fix’ the minor front end damage to my car. After taking the front apart we realized the frame was bent about 1/2” to the drivers side. We did not want to damage the car any more then it was so we tried hammers and a pry-bar and proceeded to get cold and wet, but making no progress.
It was only after going in the house to warm up and changing our train of thought that we made any progress. I decided that if we damaged to car beyond repair I could part it out and get back the $1000 I had in it. So with an attitude, warm clothes, gloves, 1.25” dia. pipe, chain, and my F250 work truck we pushed, pulled, and beat the frame back to the correct location.
The weekend was very successfull - the hood lines up with the latch, the lines along each side of the hood match (close anyways), we installed a new headlight motor (I only need the relay that plugs into the motor now), beat the sheet metal out of the way of the left side headlight, and adjusted both lights. Other things done are the tach and the OD gear was replaced.
I owe Tom for the progress we made, he complained little, and the only payment he received was the beer and food.
If I did it correctly this is befor. I will post the after photo when it is done.

Why is the image of a bumper being ripped off a Geo Storm while stuck in a snow bank popping into my head?

I've seen bumpers pulled out with volvo wagons during purchase.....
I was really scared, expecting to see a 944 and F250 joined together somehow at the firewall ors oemthing... Thank god.
Sound's like tom is a great guy, congratulations.

Well if you think about it a frame machine is basically just a puller on a cable while the car is chained down. There really isn't anything wrong with the truck method unless you chain it to the wrong place besides it's harder to control than a winch or frame machine.

Only payment you GAVE me was beer and food, and if I recall correctly, I got gipped out of dinner Sat night....
Don't worry the invoice with the actual labor charges is in the mail....
Yeah, it was a blast, but I was worried for a while that we were going to get anything done or tear it up worse. In between the frame, the headlights, the odometer gear, and the tach, we had a pretty productive weekend.
Hope the rest of the body work goes OK. I haven't put the ISV on yet, as I am still sick from working in the rain/sleet all day Sat. YOu need a bigger garage....
That was the longest trip I have taken in mine, 5 hours each way. Believe it or not, she smoothed out at 85mph and got quieter. Ran her up to an indicated 110 behind a semi (didn't know those big things would go that fast!!!!)
Now, anybody out there got the trim piece around the clock and cig lighter? I broke Patricks trying to do some electrical troubleshooting and still feel bad aobut it. He also needs the white relay on the headlight motor, and what else Pat? Probably best to post up under a "I need these parts" topic, but anyway.
Several steps closer to getting her on the road....

Thanks again for the help.
I figure you broke a part on my car I get to break a part on yours…what do you need done next, the transmission, motor, it would give you the incentive to ‘upgrade’.
I am going to smooth some of the body parts out this week end and bolt everything back together. I will try to post a photo after the stuff is back on. The front will still not be complete due to the missing fog lights and turn signal, but it will be close.
