Default Window moulding removal

I tries a search to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to get the bottom outside window seal/trim off of the doors? It looks like it just pulls off but doesn't even start to move and I don't want to tear anything up.

No, I couldn't really see how. You would think someone who has been a mechanic for 20+ yrs could do this without breaking something.

The metal trim actually comes out last, sorry. It clips on a ledge on the door, under the fuzzy trim. But you will need to remove the plastic "U" by the flag mirrors. It pops off.

To get the bottom rubber/fuzzy trim out, you need to pull the vertical piece of rubber on the B pillar out of it's channel and out of the way. With the window rolled all the way down, you should be able to pull up on the fuzzy trim and pull it off the door. It has a few clips on the back that hold it to the door.

Come to think of it, I think you might need to remove the entire upper section of rubber first, before the bottom can come out. This is because the tips of the upper piece all rest on top of the bottom piece. The bottom section has clips, whereas the top section just kinda squishes into the channel in the window/door frame.

Hi,

Actually there is an article in this months Excellence Magazine on doing this very thing. I don't recall a lot from the article except for the fact that there is a need to remove the inside of the door and thata there are some clips which hold the piece in place.

If you need a scan of the article I can get you one otherwise refer to the Excellence mag. There may also be an online site. Also if you haven't yet done so you might try Clarks Garage.

Good Luck,

Phil

I'm 100% sure that you can remove the OUTER bottom window seal without removing the interior door panel. The inner felt window seal, however, is one with the door panel.

I tried Clarks Garage and couldn't get to what I thought was the tech section. I do not have the article, a scan of it would be helpful If it is not wrong to do so.
