Default Bolt won't tighten down...

Searched, turned up nothing.

Just putting my seats back in and for some reason, on the driver's side seat, the front left (as you are sitting in the seat) bolt will not tighten down. The bolt's threads are fine, I even used a couple of different ones. I get about 8-10 treads engaged, then it backs out. It won't tighten past that point. Is there a way R/R this nut?o, or is there a different problem?

P.S. The bolt was loose when I took it out. It didn't want to come out.... it wasn't tight, it just kept turning....

it could be spinning on a fastener/nutplate and you may have to hold the bottom.

the bolt you're using could be too long.

It's probably broken the backing nut free of its weld - a real pain to work around. Do a quick search and you should find others solutions to the problem.

OK - I did a search and found "Seat Anchor Repair" and all I have to say is

SON OF A *&^!@*& *@&^ *&@^ #*&!@^ @!*&#^ @!#*& *&^*@!&#^ *&*&!@^ *&^ *&!@^ *&!@*&^ *@&!^ *&@!^ *#&^@#!@&^$*&!@ $*&!^ *&@!^ *&^ @!*&^ *!@&#^ @!*&^ *&!@^ #@^#&@!^*!^#*!^#

Well, I don't know how to weld, and I don't know a soul that does, and in the mean time, the passenger seat won't side freely back and forth now because the PO did a REALLY CRAPPY fix on the slide release for the seat (manual seat) and I have to find a used one w/o buying the whole seat.

*frustrated*

Had the same thing happen to my 83. Keep searching, there is a post about getting some studs of the same size as the bolts, cut to the same length, and threading them into the loose nut in the floorboard. Then tighten down a nut on the new post. Should be on here somewhere...........

when i replaced seats some bolts threaded in fine, but i did have 2 of the front bolts next to the center console take a LONG time to engage. I worked on one bolt for 1.5 hours, cussing the whole time, i tried every tool you could imagine.

what finally got it was switching to a 1/4" universal joint - it suspect it allowed the bolt to rotate as necessary to engage.

try a universal joint on a ratchet if you haven't already.

Jonathan, bring it down I'll weld it up for you. Or on the next gathering, whichever is first...

Danno to my rescue! Thanks buddy... I'll let you know

Fezz- I started with a 1/4" universal because I couldn't tighten it otherwise. Thanks for the info, though
