I have it at home, in that nice electrical shematic FSM that I bought at the last swap meet. It covers all 86 and 87 models. If you don't get it before tomorrow motning, I can bring into work and scan that page for you.

Only real catch is that the speakers are "common ground", meaning that both the front and rear pair run off of the same stereo output. If someone has already installed an aftermarket stereo then this is usually adapted and the external fader control is bypassed, but if you still have the original head unit you will have to either wire up the external fader or figure out how to re-do the harness to bypass it.

Damn, I left that schematic on the counter this morning at home. Do you still need this?

If it helps, I found this info just now on Kgross's site:

"The six-pin connector commonly used in mid-80s has two large pins and four smaller ones:

Pin 1) Brown - Ground (large pin)
Pin 2) Red - 12v switched power input (large pin)
Pin 3) 12v illumination power input (from pin 4)
Pin 4) 12v radio-switched output (to pin 3)
Pin 5) 12v radio-switched output (to power antenna)
Pin 6) Permanent 12v input (to maintain memory)
A second set of power connectors are provided for the optional equalizer/amplifier:

Brown - Ground
Red/white - Permanent 12v power
Red/black - 12v when radio is switched on
Fader Control

A console-mounted front/rear fader control was provided with two-channel stereos. Since most quality stereos now have four audio channels with built-in fader controls the external fader control is not usually needed. Unplug the fader from the speaker wires, and then plug the new stereo straight into the speaker wires using 2-pin DIN sockets. If you remove the fader control, you can obtain a blank filler from Porsche - part number ###-###-### (85/2 and later cars).

Speaker connectors

Porsche uses 2-pin DIN plugs for the speaker wires. Most new stereos will only supply pigtails (wire with no connector) for connection to the speaker wires. To avoid cutting up the OEM plugs, buy a few DIN sockets and solder the pigtails to the sockets. Then just plug the new stereo straight into the wiring harness.

One source of 2-pin DIN sockets is Metra - who make a variety of car stereo interfacing products. The Metra 70-1693 contains a pair of 2-pin DIN sockets. If your new stereo has 4 audio channels, and you are bypassing the OEM fader control (or equalizer), you would need two of these Metra adapters. The Metra DIN sockets are stocked or can be ordered by most car stereo shops.

A few other sources of 2-pin DIN plugs and sockets:

Blaupunkt service center
Becker service center (see http://www.beckerautosound.com)
Continental Imports (see http://www.continentalimports.com)
Halted Specialties, Sunnyvale, California
Maplins (UK mail order)
Unfortunately, Tandy/Radio Shack does not stock 2-pin DIN parts.
The schematic in the Haynes manual for speaker wires is incorrect for later cars. The color codes used for the various speakers are:

Left Front - White
Right Front - Black
Left Rear - Yellow
Right Rear - Red "

....

so, i dont have any of the pins anymore because an aftermarket unit was installed and it appears that they cut the pins off. there is no white, i could really use some wire colors.. what im looking are yellow & brown/yellow, brown & white/brown, red & red/brown, red, and black.

also, there is a seperate lead of wires, that are brown, i believe its too an amplifier of some sort ? or is the wiring there but no amp ?

OK, well then I will bring the schematic in tomorrow, it's at home right now. I can scan, upload it to my rennlist site space, and give you the link. I think it would be easier to give you the whole schematic, in case there is more info you need. Sound good?
