Default solid tranny mount

As some may recall I had posted about a serious tranny lash problem my 944 has. Many folks felt as if the tranny mount has failed. I personally have no clue. I just know that when I let off the gas at no matter what speed there is a serious amount of lash.

Well....my question is....can installing a solid tranny mount cause other failures to happen prematurely?

Suggestions welcome

I know from the people I have talked to they said there was alot more "vibration" but the shifter was much better and more precise. The same person said it is a must do to any car he will own in the future. I do not have first hand experiances but it sounds almost to good to be true.

The linkage is mounted directly to the torque tube and it's all a unit when put together. The mount just hangs it up there, it should play no role in shifting really. I'm thinking the lash is in the ring and pinion. I'm thinking that Jeremy was talking about a tech GTG sometime on realigning the R&P? My 86 is getting progressively more lash, I'm putting money on the R&P as the culprit. I hope to get into it before it gets into my wallet, well, I have a spare trans, but I'd like to get the R&P shimmed up to see if it does prove to be the death of the 44 trans??

Umm you sure about that? My linkage is not attached to my TT. However It has been awhile since I have looked at it. This is how I remember it being.

Your linkage is most certainly attached to your torque tube, look down the shaft and see what the black shifter cup bolts to.

What do you mean by "lash". Do you mean noise/whine, or some sort of shuddering issue that you can feel?

This doesn't sound like a mount problem to me (like what Andy stated above).

If your into the gas at all and let off...you litterally are thrown forward by the lash in the drive train. There is really not any noise to speak of.

Doesn't sound like R&P then. I guess we could check the mount. Sounds like it could be more of a clutch issue to me, though. Original rubber-center clutch?

Just what I was thinking. How many miles is on your clutch? How agressively (I.E. shifting at higher RPMs) do you drive it? Pray it's just your tranny though, this isn't a very fun job...

Is your engine in good working condition ?
I had this problem once with a chip upgrade.
Apparently it was not properly map for my
application. Everytime when I let go the paddle,
the car throw me forward. It could happen if
something is wrong even with a stock engine.
