Talking I have wood...

I sold a customer and new quad cab srt10 viper truck and we got started talking about Porsche cars and he told me that he has a 03 911 turbo with the x-50 pkg on it. Well I sold him the truck 1 month ago and he said he would bring the car by some time and take me for a ride in it. Well today he came by but he let ME drive it. All I have to say is wow... That car was the ****. That just made this week so much better. Just thought I would share.

Based on the title, I thought this thread was going to have something to do with G.W.'s lumber company. . .

In the early 90's I drove my friends 1990 911 he bought new, very low miles. This was the first 911 I drove - my first impression was "Wow, nice VW Golf interior" then I drove it - seams like the VW shifter made it into the Porsche as well. Since then I've driven a few more 911's of the same vintage - all the same. I cannot believe in 1978 anyone drove a 911 then a 928 and actually bought the 911.

Edit - his car was an 89, not a 90.

Ok - I drove my friends modded 996 TT on the track (Pocono Raceway, double infield configuration).
He was putting out somewhere around 470-ish hp. Some slight suspension mods as well. Street tires.

While the car was blisteringly fast on the straights, it was an understeering pig in the corners. I could produce similar lap times in my lowly stock 944S2, despite having less than 1/2 the horsepower and at least a 20-30mph speed differential at the end of the straights.

Then again, I wouldn't pass on a 996TT if I had the resources to buy one!

I drove Stephen's 996tt (yellow one on the cover of Excellence), it puts 680 at the wheels, and will definately put a hem in your dress. It was a blast to drive, but I was more concerned with someone hitting it than anything else...

Nice J... I haven't driven an x-50 yet, I bet they're a blast. Z-man, it understeers because it's a different beast! AWD cars must be driven differently than RWD cars, and I've seen a 996TT slide pretty well myself. Either way, the name of the game for it isn't handling necessarily, it's grip. And the fact that I could take it in snow just make me wet my pants
