1987 944 Turbo - Guards Red over Black leatherette interior
Purchased 3-13-04 with small mods done.
167,000mi

Condition:
Paint/Exterior: 8/10 (small rock chips on the front, almost all original paint)
Interior: 8/10 (Only one small dash crack, a couple seat cracks formed soon after purchase. Otherwise a great interior.)
Motor/Mechanical: 8-9/10 (runs very strong, uses about half a quart of oil between changes)

Asking Price was $7000
Purchased for $6700 from a Rennlister with all records from his ownership of about 6 years.

...took me almost a year to find a deal like that.

~Paul, where in NoVA are you?
~Zach, jeez you found a cheap 951!!

I forgot to include one more car in the fleet:

1986 Turbo, Zermatt Silver/Linen
Bought in December 2004 from a Rennlister
USD 2500
Condition: rear-ended with bent rear and other damages, salvage title, leaky engine, but good interior. Was going to part it out, but the darn thing still runs....

Joe,

How much do you want for the Silver 951 carcass? Part-out motor/Interior/body?

Just got my 87 944 turbo November 04, black on black
$2500 US
180k miles
interior - worn outside of drivers seat where you rub against it getting in
-pass side seat stiching coming undone a bit
-otherwise interior really nice
exterior - some rock chips on front and mirrors
-several door dings - should all be paintless repairs though
ran really good when I got it - had to replace DME last month and last week A/C compressor froze - nice smoke cloud when the belt burnt off

I think I am going to wet myself when the spreadsheet is published.

This is a 951 buyer's dream. I know the thread originator thought it might drive the value up..but as far as I can tell this thread is a perfect sample of what available out there.

I might be the one to make a spreadsheet for myself!

actually, it's not. i don't know about anybody else who listed their cars here, but mine is not for sale unless you're willing to pay me full sticker price for it.

I don't think it's accurate to call it a buyer's dream exactly.

Crap 86 turbo's are still going to be cheap, and clean 89 turbo's are still going to be expensive.

Don't think you can show this thread to a seller of an 89 and expect to get 86 prices - it doesn't work that way. Remember also, that a lot of the posts on here are by guys who are 951 snipers and pick out good deals (like my 87) - this slightly skews my data, but at least I am aware of it.

If you are smart, you will get a good deal. If you are lucky, you will get what you pay for. And if you are clueless, you will get BONED by the Porsche gods.

Also, a lot of people overestimate the condition of thier car.

I can't count how many cars I've seen advertised as EXCELLENT condition which turned out to be merely "Fair" or "Good".

Always keep that in mind!

I had a little time so I put them together, and here's the "average" 951 so far, throwing out those without all stats and/or not priced in US$. Condition was some of my judgement based on comments.

1986.9
Purchased 3/22/03
$8,258.00
107,523k
Condition 2.25 (1=ex, 2=good, 3=fair, 4=poor)

I made a spreadsheet for those interested. I am not sure how to go about posting it though..any suggestions. It is an Excel SpreadSheet.

I included all cars but those that didnt have mileage. I didnt use a number system for condition...just the owners comments.
