vinyl treatment?
I've heard more than once that armoural is bad for the vinyl. the black trim on the car is in excellant condition and I want to keep it that way. I used to use a product called "race glaze" But now notice the door handles on my Merc, getting dull. I question if its the same stuff. The lable says conditioners ect and it smells like tanning oil (coconut) Same consistancy too. What are you using? TNX Alex

I use the vinyl stuff from Mothers? Its a tan colored spray bottle and the stuff is a white cream almost.
I have heard from a few sources that "Vinylex" is the best stuff.

Also, Carecareonline.com. Excellent tech articles, and decent prices on all the cleaners and waxes you could want.
BTW, I used Vinylex on your car Alex...never anything harmfull!

I love vinylex, but it works only inside the car. Outside it'll wash off in one rain. I've yet to try something that I love as much as I used to love Black Again, which changed ownership and isn't the same stuff anymore.
For the black bumperettes and mirror surrounds, try using Surflex colorant to bring back to a nice solid black, then try any of the usual outdoor vinyl dressings. www.carcareonline.com does have all you need, including Suflex.

Just stay away from stuff that says it has "petroleum distillates" in it.
Do you want anything that has petroleum in it to be on your rubber/vinyl?

Vinylex it is, Those bumperets look real good if thats what you used on them Andy. 32 dollars for 3 liters expensive ? Buy hydraulic plow oil sometime, 12.00 a quart And it still freezes. Gotta love these upper latitutudes. Alex

$32?? Uh...I buy the small spray bottles. They last forever for me. I don't do my dash anymore...found that buffing with an old T shirt, then maintaining with those california car mini brushes leaves the dash clean, and helps the windshield stay chemical free too. Too much treatment on the dash causes vapors to rise onto the windshield...a PITA to clean.
Also, those nice black bumper pads were treated with my favorite exterior vinyl treatment - One Grand ERV treatment. Great for tires and all the exterior black stuff. I tried Mother's Back to Black...hate it. The 1-Grand stuff is way better.
