Default Crest on front fenders

Search didnt turn up any results. I was wondering if anyone had the Porsche crest on the front fenders of their car (Between the drivers door and front wheel). Similar to where you see them on the Ferrari. I saw two 944's at Hershey last year that had it and thought it looked nice. I was wondering, is this just a decal or a actual badge? I never got close up enough to see it. Would the crest stickers sold at the dealer hold up to washing, sunlight...etc? Just curious. Im not talking about adding a huge sticker on, im thinking something about the size of the hood crest, maybe even a little bit smaller.

I know, i know. Heres a guy on Rennlist asking about putting stickers on his p-car. Ok crazy! Blasphemy! But im serious, i think it looks pretty cool personally

YES they are stickers... It was one of the first things I was given as a gift by a friend who works for Porsche... I ran right out and put them on. Now I will be taking them off this week when the car goes in for paint!

i dont know if it would look right.. i guess i would have to see it. also would depend on teh quality/detail of the decal and how well its done, as well as how it looks.. (ive seen crest decals that look different from eachother).

speaking of crests, i just bought an original 'orange bar' crest for my car. (they changed to the type 944s have in 74). mine has the 74 up type as a po replaced the original one. anyways.. good original arly 911/12/14 ones have been going for 500 on ebay lately. i just scored this one with a broken 'bar' but other wise perfect for 40 bucks.

the rest of the bar fell off when i took it out of the packing it was shipped in. gonna match the color with enamel model paint and redo the bar. maybe eventually have it all reenameled. who knows.

heres what it looked like after i polished it and cleaned it up a bit.

I have a jeweler here in San Diego that is AWSOME with enamal work... He just finished a 19th century enamal pin for my wifes birthday... CAME OUT PERFECT. He had to match 2 shades of blue and two shades of green... Let me know if you want his info!

i might have to take you up on that. probably not now (as i need to buy a motor to run this summer while i rebuild my original), but may have it done next winter or somthing.

i havent looked into enameling yet.. i immagine its expensive. not to be rude and ask how much you paid, do you think somthing like this would be pricey?

Put the sticker down, and step away from the Porsche.

Isn't there a prototype Volvo running that has a 'prancing moose' on the flank? I just that in Autoweek or EVO or somewhere-pretty funny.

Yep, I've done this on my 951. I used the stickers available at the dealership, my mounting point is higher up than on the black car shown above. I'll try and post a pic later for you. I think it looks pretty good that way.

I would imagine that to replace the one bar of orange you would be looking at around $50-$75.
I had several pieces on a large dragon fly pin (about 3 inches by 4 inches) replaced and it cost me $225. But it was MUCH more intricate and there was more color matching involved.

NO! Stickers...I use silver dash/steering wheel emblems that have double sided tape on the rear and no posts. They look outstanding! $50 each however, so make sure they stick! Mine haven't moved all year.

1. Another neat place to put a badge without going over-kill is to remove the posts from a hood badge and put velcro on the rear. The other velcro piece centered on the rear seats between the two towards the top. It's removable without damage to the seat material, plus when you look into the car from the front the badge stares back at you from the back seat!

2. Also have a small one next to the ash tray.
3. Have the Momo Porsche badge steering wheel center as well.....
I don't feel 3 badges in a car is to much...It's about what their should be! Anymore may be overdoing it!

You know why it has the moose don't you?

Volvo XC90 was the only SUV to ever pass the test (so far). The only other SUV to attempt the test was the X5 BMW and it was unable to avoid the moose and failed the test. So at one of the autoshows (I forget witch one) Volvo was across from BMW and they got a Giant stufffed moose just to throw it into BMW's face. Also they added the symbols onto the XC90 as a second cheap stab.
