Default Car ramps.

Anybody have recommendation on car ramps. With the car so mlow I can't use mine. Auto zone has plastic, SCARY! Plus not sure if they have a long enough grade to clear spoiler. What are your ramps? Alex TNX.

Rhino ramps- they seem to be the most favored around here.
Others will chime in with their favorites.

Cheapo's from Wal-Mart...aluminum and sturdy, but again with the low ground clearance.

My friend had a set of the aluminum ramps from Walmart. We drove his Mustang up them to do an oil change. The sound they were making as they were being stressed with the load of the car was less than motivating for me to crawl underneath. I would say go with the Rhino Ramps. Sure, they are plastic....but its not some cheapo plastic. I have used these for about a year now and they are great for doing routine stuff like oil changes. The rhino ramps are low enough that the front valance on my 944 and 924S had no trouble going up. If your car is lowered, then you will want to take two pieces of wood and place them lengthwise at the start of the ramp, then drive onto the wood. Clearance should no longer be an issue.

The plastic ones (cheapo special at Pep Boys) work just fine - they'll support a 12,000+ vehicle (and you KNOW that has a "liability-inspired" safety factor built in). More than enough for a 3,000-ish pound 944.

The only problem is they like to slip on the garage floor sometimes (driving up them) but that's more a function of having a smooth floor slab than bad ramps - it's easily solved by a 2x4. WAY safer than jacks or jack stands.

Mine aren't Rhino, they're some goofy knock-off, but still very good. I'll get the name when I go home. I think I paid $30 for 'em. They JUST clear the plastic black piece under the nose of the 951 - the 944 clears by about 1cm. I suppose you could lay down 2x4 sections side-by side on the Rhinos and drive up on those to decrease the slope though.

I tried Rhino ramps, but they do not quite work for me because of my low-profile tires. I bought these low-rise ramps from Griots a year ago, and it has worked very well for me:

Not true. Not at all true. My last car was a turbo with stock suspension, and it went right up the ramps, no problem. This one would do it if it wasn't for the gt racing splitter.

My dad has this set of ramps and YES, they do slip on the garage floor. I had a friend of mine pulling my daily driver (front-wheel drive) up on the ramps about 2 weeks ago and he managed to shoot the ramps back underneath the car.

I have a set of the Rhino ramps and my '86 951 (stock) makes it up fine without rubbing (at least with the bat wing off of the car). I seem to recall that it rubs a little with the bat wing on ...
