I would be game. Consider this. Alot of other rallies are starting to hold them mid week. Say Tues, weds, thurs... That way people who have to travel only need to take one week off of work. Then they have the weekends surrounding the event as well. Mid week also offers discounts at hotels and more hosting options as well due to lack of competition.
Reno, with the track at Fernley..
Portland and PIR
Spokanne and SRP
Seattle and SIR
There are many other locations as well...

Hey guys, I like the idea. But do not forget us rain soaked Pacific Northwest types. Laguna is an awsome place, and Monteray is one of my favorites. Still a two day drive from the Seattle area.

Laguna Seca has strict limits on the number of events they allow, also would be VERY expensive, Infineon (Sears Point) would be more feasible, but either way I would be interested.

I'd love it if we can organize around a weekend track event, but aren't tracks super-hard to get for weekends? And if we do it on a weekday, would people still show?

Laguna Seca is extremely expensive. Unless we could get something like 50+ cars that are willing to participate AND pay for the track use, I think the costs might be somewhat prohibitive, although I can do some calling / e-mailing if there's enough interest. Here's some basic information:

Additionally, there's that little clause about carrying a $5M insurance policy; I know absolutely nothing about obtaining such a thing and can only imagine the rate is absurd, especially for a bunch of amateur racers with 15-20 year-old cars. . .

Maybe conjoin your fest with a scheduled PCA day at one of the tracks. What about Thunderhill? Full day on a weekend is ~$5k + fees. A little closer to Seattle...

guys.. yes.. it would be a few days out and a few days back.. but where is your sense of adventure!?!?!?!?! christ.. its not always about the destination.. its about the adventure you have along the way!!!!
btw.. i will be driving from ohio to california and back for the 912 rendezvous AGAIN this year.. for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW.
take the road less traveled. take an adventure! see america by porsche. there isnt a better experience one can have.
btw.. i did write an article about my great odessey.. (the 1st trip). and it looks like it will be getting published!!! it will go to print next year in the 912 registry magazine. when the editor is done, i will post it here for all to read (cause most heredont get the 912 registry magazne obviously). i might try to pass it to excellence as well.. but i dont know if they will want it.. still undecided.
btw,, this doesnt mean dont have 944 fest west.. but im encouraging you to do the cross country trip anyways. IT IS THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME!! somthing you can tell your kids and grand kids. it really is a right of passage.
