Weltmeister/H&R 220 lb spring issue
This morning I was greeted with a really lound *THUD* when I drove my car over a speed bump, only to hear my spring vibrate afterward. Scared me sh*tless because it sounded like the control arm broke off the whole car It seems that when the car is lifted, the springs lose their position and become mis-aligned with the upper strut housing when lowered. Has anyone thought of a fix for this yet or have the same issue?

It's normal with any spring shorter than stock, and also normal with those of us running coilovers. The solution on coilovers is a tender spring, but the cost usually outweighs the convenience - just lower the car slowly and center the spring by hand onto the seat.

That's odd on a Weltmeister spring - where did you get these? How old are they? The 200 and 250 lowering springs we sell will not lift out the perches but they do have a built in helper spring.
Anywho, use a zip tie to hold the top of the spring to the top hat - that's a more crucial area. Then, be careful when lowering the car to be sure the bottoms sit back in correctly.

Welding on tabs would work on the 944 too, but would require cutting them back off if ever changing the strut or spring.
If they are a real problem and you want a semi-permanent solution, use high-strength band clamps (cut a slot in the perches to route them through.)

band clamp as in hose clamp - all-metal. Get some sturdy and flexible enough to capture the spring to the perch - one each on the upper and lower of each strut should do fine. You'll have to cut or drill the top and bottom perch to route it through. Can find them at any local auto parts store or Walmart.
EDIT: A very heavy duty zip tie would work but in this case the spring would be trying to hold a good deal of weight by keeping the perch stuck to the spring - the weight would basically be the entire unsprung weight of the front suspension = easily 100#
