... for another 200.00 bucks or so you can get the whole Zimmermann kit of drilled rotors, pads, and sensors from 944online.

I assume that is installed. Who's pads and which type? I paid $160 for the job just after I bought my first 944 about four years ago.

Yeah, that's a pretty bad rip-off. Did that include any labor? If that's just for parts, then maybe return them...

No it included labor and install. Ok learn from my mistakes, DON'T take your Porsche to a smaller less reputable shop just to try them out. But they quoted me $238 before they started the job, that’s a big difference.

It is high but if you cant/dont want to do your own work it is bearable.

The kind of pads is need to know info - I doubt they used an exotic pad, but if they did that's not a bad deal.

Pagid Orange Pads are not cheap - not the most expensive either.

I don't know the brand name of the pad, but I know they did buy the pads from a Porsche dealer that is a few miles away, if that helps at all. Can't be too bad if they're coming straight from Porsche.

pcarfan, You can do the wrenching yourself and save some major $$. If you have questions about what to do, just use the search function to find what your looking for..

(My best time doing a F/R pad R&R on my '89 911 is 27 minutes. -and yes, I was in a rush.)

If you take my $160, add $25 for sensors and add inflation you are pretty close to your estimate. I trust my mechanic more than my own Mother not to cheat me. In other words I trust him as much as you can trust anyone. Why did the price go over the estimate??

Did they itemize the invoice? Any reputable shop should, and might even be required to by law (not sure). Would give a clue as to where all the extra $$$ came from.

Bryan, yeah i'm going to start learning about this stuff so I can do my own work soon. I use this car as my daily driver so the biggest factor is that I can't have it off the road for more than a day or two. Lou- i'll find out when I pick it up tomorrow, I told them to check to condition of the rear pads and rotors, maybe that tagged on a few bucks. They also had to drill off the lock nuts on the front, maybe they charged me for that, who knows.
