I can't figure out what tool to use to remove the hatch pins
I've got the hatch removed from the car, the trim off the top and the spoiler sides removed. But I'm having trouble finding a tool that is the star pattern to remove the hatch pin brackets.
Anyone point me in the right direction?

5mm triple square socket or bit, hard to find. You can use a 5mm allen hex socket or allen wrench, but be careful not to strip the bolt. These pins are usually rusted on pretty good, may want to put some liquid wrench on them before trying to loosen them.

You know it could be 6mm triple square, but I had to resort to the 5mm allen wrench on mine, definitely 5mm allen on mine at least (just did it last week).. If you need the 6mm triple square, buy the LISLE set of four bits at 6, 8, 10, 12 mm for $15.

I looked at the hatch tonight. There are 2 diffferent sizes. One looks like 5, and the other 6. Why in the hell are there 2 differrent sizes on one pin?

yep, 6mm triple square. I just did it last night. I bought a triple square set from some online tool supplier for $25. It has TS4-10 in it.

I'm not having any luck with local hardware stores.
FYI: found new pins from Ian at 944online.com
