Default Porsche magazine: 944S2 vs 968

Im not exactly sure which Porsche magazine it was... I thought it was 911 & Porsche but I looked at their website and the cover didnt look familiar (the cover of the magazine I saw had the rear of a 997 on it)... anyway...

inside the magazine they have a multi-page article (with pics) about the 944S2 and 968.. a comparison between the two.. but no graphs or cool graphics.. just some pics and an article. I saw it at Tower Records during my lunchbreak...

anyway.. anyone have it? seen it? want it? maybe ill buy it and scan it if no one can find it... its like 6 bucks though

Yes, it is the 911 & Porsche magazine. It is a nice article with the bonus of a great Boxter clutch replacement how to article.

Sorry, I don't have a scanner to burn it for you. Come on, it's only $6.85.

The UK edition has the 944 & 968 on the cover, the US edition has a 997.

The 968 is mine btw...

That's awesome Alex! Any chance you could grab some UK copies and sell a few to your fellow Rennlisters here across the pond? I'd love to see a Rennlister's car on a magazine cover!

Often the cover photo or text is different from UK to US editions for this mag.

Just curious....what does it mean in that article when Alex's brother says "When I was made redundant" ????

Poor 944 S2--so cheap it's becoming undesirable! That is, until you get the repair bill!

I think the 944 definately looks more bare-bones than the fancier 968. I do like the 968's rounded front and back...making it look more modern overall. But look at the front end of an S2--all business!

Sure, I'm biased. Sure, I would trade for a 968 in a minute. But the S2 is by far the best bang for the buck in this case!

Nice blue 968, BTW! Those Cup2 rims weren't standard in Europe, were they?

I believe "made redundant" is the UK equivalent of "layed off".

Thanks for the compliment

The design of the 17" wheels changed from Cup 1 to Cup 2 in '94. The 17s were standard on the Club Sport and Sport, optional on the coupe and cab which kept the 16" Cup 1s in all years.

I have the best of both worlds and I definately think my car looks better than a 968 cabrio with its wimpy front end. 968 in someones rear view mirror = Hmmmmm what is that

My car in someones rear view mirror = WTF? Move over

Beautiful 968, Alex! I must say I'm also partial to the Linen Metallic finish of your brother's S2, myself. I find it's a very elegant and unusual color. Contrary to the article's description, it is not quite a pale gold, but rather a metallic beige. No yellow in it. One of those understated teutonic finishes from the late '80s Porsches.

I agree with Luis: that Kalahari Beige is unique. Porsche made that color very cool before Honda and Lexus started making cars with the same color tone... Imitation is the greatest form of Flattery I suppose!
