Well, the IHI-6 will make a sustainable maximum of about 18psi so I'm told; if I upgraded the turbo to a Garrett or something I could easily get the 20psi - probably more. Of course that would mean extensive block strengthening and it would delay the project even more, but OMG the possibilities!

It would mean new pistons, rods, crank work, probably some head work (valves specifically), etc. You can certainly do it and I wouldnt discourage it. Do you have a spare 8K dollars? If so, go to it!

I happen to know one of the bidders and because of his needs and my needs this would be a smokin deal for both of us (we both need just a few parts from the motor and they arent the same parts). Probably wont happen as I dont need to spend any more money on my beast but the possibilities are there.

It is good to have dreams, Jeff, they are what keep me coming to work

LOL! I know. . . I know. . . I live in a fantasy world sometimes. I swear it'd set that project back at least another two or three years just because of the costs, but MAN what the end result would be! The part that scares me is the shipping cost to CA and the fact that it's a high-mileage / wrecked engine.

I'm intrigued by the 3.0L turbo idea the more I think about it, but I suspect I can pick up a 968 engine (and trans) at some point for pretty cheap if I really want to - that's a pretty good deal though. I'd probably just end up building it up in the garage in my spare time or something. I just want to keep the project inching forward. . . It's proceeding slowly enough as it is!

I guess if you have more dreams than money, you're a dreamer / idealist. If you have more money than dreams, you're a miser.

Would a turbo big enough to feed a 3.0 at high boost fit on the hot side of the motor where the Callaway puts it?

Joel - I *think* it would fit but not where Callaway put it. It would involve removal of the headlights...keep watiting for an update on this.

I haven't had the time to work on my 968 yet, but I'll keep you mind if I end up giving up on her.

Damn, too rich for me. I tried at the last second but ebay kicked it back.

I guess I'll just have to rebuild my S motor instead.

I was looking to save some time and just R&R.

Guess it's pull the crank time for my spun bearing.

Not me -- I've got way too many projects already! I wasn't even the 'joejack951' guy that gave that little boost at the end.
