Man, that just sucks. I wish you the best of luck on replacing it and it's good to hear that nobody was hurt in the process.

I've got a big fat Halon extinguisher and one refill for it that I rescued from being destroyed/pitched when I was in the army. It's the aircraft cabin variety. Because it's used in aircraft if the weight on the data plate isn't readable it has to be pitched even if you know it's perfectly good because it weighs about what it should. I definitely carry that with me although it's behind the seat on the floor, I need to make or buy one of those in front of the seat mounts for it, they're nice looking. I hope I never have to use it but at least I know it'll work good and not ruin a bunch of other stuff in the process if I do have to use it. Halon's great stuff other than it's bad for the ozone layer (much, much worse than refrigerants are). Wish they could have come up with an equal before they banned it.

Terrible loss...Glad everyone was OK. Speaking of fire extinguishers, might not hurt to have one mounted in the garage as well as one in the car...
