Default Now parting the 1987 944S

well, today I finally pulled the head on the project S. All 8 exhaust valves are bent and the #1 cylinder is cracked all the way through the wall.

The car is, as of now, being parted out. Let the vultures descend.

Car is a 1987 944S. Guards red. Good body, average/below average interior. -Seems to have been optioned with full leather interior, and the bits that are still good are really good. (sunroof liner for example)
-All glass except windshield is in good condition, rear hatch has the wiper option.
-There are some sort of aftermarket plates screwed into the front doors to fit larger round speakers, I havent taken them out to look at it in detail. They look like 5.25 or 6.5 rounds.
-Power steering rack looks like it is new or refurbished recently (shiny and clean, fresh rubber)
-Rear axles also look pretty new
-Transmission will engage all the gears smoothly, thats all I can tell you since I cant test drive it.
-Yes, the dash is cracked.
-Door panels in good shape, although hacked up to hold component speakers.
-Good condition late offset 15" phone dials with good all-season rubber (Might keep these)
-Most other chunks you would expect to find on one of these
-Located in Longmont Colorado.

Sorry to hear...

Is your wind deflector still in good shape...? I could use te deflector itself as well as the center hinge which is part of the sun roof limiter switch and the left and right hinges...

thanks...

stupid question which I haven't found an answer to in the previous posts. Will and S head bolt onto an 8V block and if so what modifications are needed to make it all work?

I have heard that the head will bolt up, but all the extra stuff essentialy means you are making an S engine out of the 8V block. From the answers I got when I asked this, you need to swap the head, pistons, wiring harness, computer, and some sensors. Also the intake manifold, maybe exhaust, maybe ignition, etc. I think I have all the parts to do it, mostly already pulled, but I considered going this route and decided against it, do to the labour to get just 30 hp.

danc, the deflector itself seemed to be in good condition. I havent looked at the center hinge or limit switch. The side hinges are nearly broken, I was gonna swap them into my car but saw that they were pretty much shot.

hmm probably can't afford it but how much do you want for the complete motor, harness, and DME? I want an S to eventually turbocharge but I can't seem to find any decent ones in my area. I've got an early 8V motor sitting on a stand just waiting for a purpose and this sounds like it might be workable if I can afford it.

Ouch,

Sorry to hear that.
What color is the interior?
I'm looking for the plastic trim piece for the climate control, and the little plastic ***** with the white triangle that controls the vent. I need both pieces in black.

Thanks

the interior is all black. The dash trim is cracked from the PO. The ***** may be good though. I will check when I next go back to my house. (Only on weekends due to school)

i'm looking for a set of late phonedials, but i prefer ones that need refinishing, if you keep the ones from the s do you have a set from your other car that you would sell? also, i might be interested in the shell after you part out the s.

Sorry to hear about the bad news. Too bad your so far away, my stepson is intrested in finding a 944 with bolown engine to do a V8 conversion to. An "S" would make a great platform for the conversion, I know I know, sacrliage but at least it would keep a 944 on the street where it belongs.
Hope the parting goes well,
Bill

to all that have PMed/posted parts requests, I will be getting back to you all this weekend when I can go home and inspect the condition of the parts requested. I am not ignoring you; but this weekend is the soonest that I will have access to the car.
