i figure i cant get very much seing as how i have about 188k miles on the thing. interior isnt horrible but the seats do have the normal splitting.

a dealership said it had a trade in value of about 1000$. i know the wheels are worth that alone so i would take them off and sell them seperate.

Im thinking of leaving it abandoned somewere, then i will give a bunch of random clues every day or so on the list here... then whoever finds it first is the new owner. haha

new clutch as of about 10k ago... so maybe its not SO new.

new timeing belts and pump as of this spring.

and uhhhhh..... hey it has damians one of a kind tail lights... but i would probly take those off because even though i paid him for them i still consider them his property seeing as how he cares about them more than me and theyre on MY car.

Chris.. 6k??? For a mildly high mileage (it's no 300k S2) 86 n/a? Maybe I just watch the bottom of the barrel market more, but I'd think it'd sell sooner or later for $2500~3000, in a reasonable timeframe for $2k (without the wheels, with the wheels probably back up to the $2500 mark).

Heh, I'm going to start making offers on P-cars like I do with motorcycles (and I seem to get a lot of those). That's offer 1/2 of what I feel I could sell it for minus parts costs of any basic maintenance/repairs. I get a lot of angry 'F off!!" too though..

Sorry. I think his car is too nice to go in the $2K - 2.5K range. 188K miles is not that bad for these cars and they go forever. I'm with Chris.

splitting seats are not normal. thats abnormal. Cared for seats should not split. im just messin with ya a bit. Ive seen a lot of 944 seats that looked like a wolverine ate them. I have no idea how seats get that way.

I do like the ppl selling cars who say things like "usual small cracks in the dash" and stuff. No. Cracks are not usual. They are a sign of neglect.

Not always - there are a few products that speed up cracking so in some cases cars owned by the most **** people have cracked dashes.

Selling price depends a lot on where you live, exclusivity of 944's in your area, and demand.

Although I hate to admit it, Bruce Anderson's values of 944's seem to be an average, that you adjust up or down depending on the above factors.

Based on your description of the car, it would probably fall under Anderson's "fair" condition category. Add in about 25% (IMHO) for slightly higher values present here in the midwest, then deduct about 10% for high mileage.

Unfortunately, the preventative maintanence work is not going to add to value, that is expected. The wheels won't add much at all, really, probably $200-$300 at best. If you have the originals, you would be better off sticking those on the car and selling the 17's separate.

I don't have that issue of Excellence in front of me, but if someone can do the math off the last issue, you'll probably end up with the approximate street value for that car.

I agree that it's worth more than $2000; I paid that for mine and it's not as nice. If the paint is as good as it looks, the interior is okay aside from the seats (good carpets, not too many cracks on the dash), and the pm is indeed caught up, I'd say it's worth $3000 or so. That will get lower every week as winter approaches.

But six grand ain't gonna happen - that's crazy talk. As you get into higher price ranges, the buyer also gets more options - turbos, lower miles, later years, and different makes of cars with better performance. This car is local, similar, and has a $6k asking price - which I doubt they'll get. And there's a 944S with 180k miles on it in Lousiville asking $2500.
