951 sway bars
Hey,
I purchased in Feb '04 front and rear sway bars and front struts from a 951 to install on my 84 N/A at a Porsche swap shop. I lost the slip that said for what year they were from. any way I am trying to find the bushings for them and cannot for the love of me tell what year they are. I know they are thicker in size than my front and rear sway bars that are on the car. I even tried reading some numbers off them, but this is all I could find:
Front sway bar: 70605 MUB 3 9
Rear sway bar: 4775-413 MUB
If any of the gurus on here could tell me if these look familiar, please let me know
thanks in advance...joel

If you have access to a vernier caliper, measure the diameter of the sway bay. This will give you the correct mesasurements for the bar you have.
Based on the information from Techsession, you can have a combonation of these front bars....
23mm
24mm
25.5mm
26.8mm
These would be paired with either a 16mm or 18mm rear. Im no expert on the suspenion details of these cars, so maybe someone can give you a more direct answer.
I am buying a set of 951 sways from tod84944 to put on my '87 944. It has the factory stock front and no rear. What type of difference did you notice with the larger bars?

I'm trying to get a set of 26.8mm front and 18mm rear bars right now. I have the 20mm on the front, and no rear sway bar. I get the car up on 2 wheels on the track all the time.
You'll probably need a set of calipers to correctly identify which sway bars they are.

I haven't taken off the Sway bar yet, but they are thicker and they feel heavier. I won't know till I get a caliper to measure them I guess. will keep you guys informed when I find the sizes.

Danno and Serge944,
I used a tape measure and the Front sway bar is 3-1/2 inches round. Do I use 3.5 or some other number then divide by the 3.14159265 you mentioned. When i use 3.5 I get 1.114084603. Now I know I have it wrong. I have a caliper but it only reads SAE(inches) I'm not familiar in converting from SAE to Metric.
Could you please show me what I am doing wrong in the calculation.
P.S. The rear sway bar is 2-14 inches .
thanks....

And to convert from inches to mm or vice versa (or all kinds of other conversions) go to www.google.com and type in what you want to convert, just in the main search box. For example, "0.71619 inches to mm" gives the size in mm of your rear bar, after your measurement of 2.25" is divided by Pi in say windows calculator.

Ahhh, so those are the TurboS bars then... Strangely enough, my non-S car had those bars on it when I bought it, previous owner must've upgraded. Then I went to the 968 M030 bars, then the Weltmeister bars.
