You gotta make sure the hole is level, that's about all there is to it. What exactly are you doing?

Which way are you going top or bottom?

I have done two from the bottom, used an engine host to lift it up and then a floor jack to help level it.

Make sure the driveshaft splines and nub for the pilot bearing are good and clean, then apply a little anti-size compound on it. Should slip right in if you have it level. If the car and motor are well supported, some minor shaking is allowed.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle... and then it will just slide into place. It took us a few minutes but I'm sure you'll get it.

it's possible that the splines are butting up against each other. try rotating either the engine or the trans, with it in gear, and see if that helps.

One trick is to measure the gap between the torque-tube and bellhousing at all four corners. Then you'll know which way to angle the engine.

well 5 hours of wiggling and shaking to no avail... the splines went in fine but there is still an inch left... all out of ideas and the motor already fell on my leg once while I was under it.... discouraged.
