OT: Became a dad yesterday
I had a son, Michael Ray Paxson yesterday. He was 4 weeks premature. My GF went in for a stress test and they went ahead and took by emergency C-section as his heart rate was getting low when she had contractions. The problem is he has gastroenthesis, meaning his belly button didn't close up and his intestines are outside his body. We knew this beforehand and had a surgery scheduled but this was pending he made it to term. Right now everything seems ok, they have to wait the intestines's swelling to go down before they can put it back inside him and sew him up. So now I'm getting ready to drive to indy to riley childrens hospital where he is and visit him. So I won't be on here much for the next few weeks. Later, Mike

Thanks alot guys, it means alot to me! Yeah it's definately changing things already, she will probably getr eleased today at noon. Then we'll head up there. I have a feeling this is going to consume lots of time and driving to indy all the time for awhile. It will probably be a month or so before we can bring him home. Again thanks for your wishes etc. she was surprised when I told her about my post and the response, she knows I spend alot of time on here. Later, Mike

Congrats Mike. Doctors knoewing about the condition pre-natal is a godsend- gives them time to plan a course for treatment.
Best wishes..
