BTW, we recently talked about this car over on the Turbo board: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/167121-who-s-pearl-white-951-for-sale.html.

Rare and gorgeous color: yes. One of the first 6 US 951: probably not.

I've seen the number 18 brought up at one point as well. I also got in touch with the seller of that ad, and he got the 'first 6' story from his previous owner.

I'll email the guy and see if I can get the VIN. That would hold some information in it yes?

The real Pearl White 951s had color matched fuchs.

Already done -- the last 4 digits are 6569, which is how I concluded it couldn't be one of the promotional cars. The paint code on the car is correct: L0A9

I'd love to know more about the car with the matching fuchs -- it's gorgeous!

Yeah it's very good looking. And I'll park it next to my Pearl White 914. It needs a paint job anyway.

Wow! I thought that all Turbo S models came with the Club Sport wheels.

The 6 pearl white cars that were made for the promotional offer weren't Turbo S cars. In fact, all of them were made as MY 86 cars, hence the fuchs. That car looks as if the headlight covers and front bumper have had a repaint. The rest of the car was in fantastic condition. This was at the PartsHeaven swap meet and concours. I think someone told me this guy lives in Mountain View, CA.

The repainted portions of that car look like as$ which is why I am not super keen on Pearl. It appears the sunroof was done as well.

The number 6 is thrown around often but it is becoming harder and harder to believe that claim. I can personally vouch for at least 3 of them and I was in 1 of the "6" yesterday. Seems odd that I would be able to vouch for that many.

As an owner of a 1989 Turbo, I'm well aware that the S model was not released until 1988. What threw me off here was the s at the end of 951s...
I was thinking that little s indicated a Turbo S, when, in reality, the s was being used for pluralization. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
