Using fuel injector cleaner does all the fuel system cleaning you need, and its easier than going to the local airport to fill the car up. The higher octane aviation fuel will make the car run better on that tank, but I cant see any improvement after it is used up. Had a friend of mine dump AV gas into his Chevelle SS 396 and immediately blew up a muncie 4 speed transmission while gunning it onto a highway.

I didn't know it was thinner than regular gas or that the octane ratings were obtained differently.

Avgas is 100LL (low lead) aviation fuel. The non-leaded aviation fuels are not commonly found at most general aviation airports.
Do not use 100LL avgas in your car. The label on your gas flapper and dash cluster should clearly say "UNLEADED GAS ONLY"
Avgas has a different chemical composition than mogas, it actually has a different weight as well. In aviation we multiply the amount in gallons by 6 to get the weight in lbs. Besides the different level of sulfur and other chemicals, the lead content will eventually destroy your cat. Also, 100LL is generally much more expensive than 91 or even 94 octane mogas. (unless somone overfilled an aircraft and is draining the fuel into a container.. but why would you want to use potentially contaminated fuel?)
If you want to clean out your fuel system, buy a bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

I guess if somebody started yaking about that to me, I would be curious as well. Thats why it always pays to post it up on Rennlist!

Chevron fuel has Techron in it, recommended by Porsche IIRC. Also, if you're interested in a for real octane boost, try using Toluene, available at most fine paint stores by the gallon.

Unless you've tuned the car to run on 100-octane fuel, like increasing compression or turning up the boost, there's no way you can get more HP from just dumping in AvGas. The combustion temp and speed is exactly the same as auto-gas if you maintain the same air-fuel ratio. However, due to AvGas being 25% lower in density than auto-gas, you'll be running too lean. THIS is what causes the hotter combustion and potential engine-damage. You can get the same effect by leaning out the mixtures on your existing gas... Remember that hot-rod saying from the '60s???
