I have a white car and get leaf stains on it sometimes if a leaf sits on it after it rains. I use a diluted mixture of "iron-out" and water. I rinse it away and scrub about 20 seconds after application. It takes away the stains in no time but I would be afraid to leave it more than a few seconds. It may start to discolor the paint.
For bird poo... Maybe some kind of light abrasive detergent. Maybe scrub softly with come commit and then buff the spot after it is removed.

Most of the bug and tar removers are petrolium based, gas and a soft scrubby work as well as any of them or wd-40 for that matter....

I pour acetone on a clean, soft rag and gently rub the crap off. Works great!

Try a clay bar on your paint . Use this one time and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it, especially on white vehicles. You won't believe how much crap this will take off. I use Mother's California Gold clay bar with excellent results. Just follow the directions well, and use plenty of the lubricant while you're scrubbing with the clay. It sounds kinda creepy while rubbing; sounds like it's scratching the paint, but it's not. I always buff and wax after I strip the car down with the clay. I hear there are better clay bars out there, but of course, more expensive, and not locally available. I get mine at Advance Auto or some Wal-marts. Your paint will feel like glass afterwards. I use it on my windshield too, and it turns out so clear, you'd swear someone stole your glass.
Usual disclaimers.... Best of luck..Lizard

Try LangKa paint reducer...made for finishing touchup of paint chips, but works great on removin g other "stuff" IF the paint is orginal factory...if you have a repaint, try it on a small section first where not readily obvious (rear lower rocker panel)...available from their web site...I believe "LangKa.com"

Most treesap is WATER soluable. I know this sounds overly simplistic but this should be the first thing you try. A good dish wash detergent will strip sap and your wax. So you will have to re-wax after. If this does not do the trick then try the other stuff.

Had big lumps of hardened sap on the wife's minivan this summer after a stay in the woods. I swear, the only thing that worked was prying the darn things off with a plastic pot scraper, then wiping the rest with Mineral Spirits. Requires a quick clean and wax when done, but did not appear to harm the finish in any way.

I have had to do the same thing for adhesive from taped-on numbers at the track on my 944. Solved that with magnetics. Only tape I will use now is that blue painter's tape. That stuff is mighty kind to paint.
