With delight, of course! My hysterical laugh, as you know, would be in disgust.

BTW, I love your avatar, and I totally agree with Ferry!

I like it too. I made the following instead of writing my philosophy paper last night. Provides structure in my life...now I KNOW exactly what I'll be doing tonight!

Amateur PS work...but it's MY PS work.

Special thanks to Weston Dillard for his beautiful 951 picture! I do have permission, right?

While I agree that that 96,000 miles is relatively low for a 1989 (at only a bit over 6,000 per year), that is still quite a number of miles on the whole, and it is no surprise whatsoever to me that it has some dash cracks.!
Her-Royal-Highness has been a garage queen since the day I bought her in June 1998, and doesn't sit out in the sun much. Too many birds where I work and the sun's UV rays would fade my paint. I drive my other cars quite a bit so they don't rust and seize up on me. The 951 never gets taken out in the rain. It is a canadian car, and as such, the speedo and odometer are in kilometers. You simply take the mileage in km's and divide by 1.6 to get the miles. (or conversely, take the miles and multiply by 1.6 to get the km's)

The respray took the whole summer, because the shop took all the removeable panels and bumpers and doors and trimmings off, sanded it to bear metal, primered it with zinc, then shot it in the new color. I had ordered all the door seals, sunroof, and windshield seals from the dealer, and by the time they arrived, the car was ready to be re-assembled. There is NO overspray anywhere, and the car has no more "orange peel" than a new car does. I don't know what the value in Canada would be. These persons you mention, how can I get in contact with them?
Cheers!

Kilometers. I just converted it to miles to avoid having to ask everyone to divide by 1.6 to get the mileage. Funny how even though we're metric up here, we still talk about cars in mileage....

It's hibernating now, and I don't think anyone would be interested in having me pull her out just to do a complete inspection for them on her when there's 765.3 feet of snow outside 8-). P.M. me and I'll give you my email address. That way, you can email me in the spring to see if I've kept her or gotten rid of the wife........but don't tell her I said that. ;-)

It is good to know that you have taken such good care of her! My post was actually in defense of your dash cracks, and I hope that you did not infer any accusation on my part. 96,000 Kilometers??!! Multiplying 96,000 by .625 returns 60,000 miles. Very nice! Do you have many records? If you have records from at least the past 7-8 years, I would say that would negate the change from the original Baltic Blue (I think the blue color blend is beautiful, by the way). With 60,000 miles, I think you should get at least $12,500 USD. Good luck if you decide to part with her. I know it won't be easy on you emotionally, at least I know that it wouldn't be for me.

Also, I fully understand and appreciate your desire that your baby not fall into the wrong hands. I have owned my 1989 since August 1999, and, like yours, she is still completely stock. If I did have to sell her for some reason and someone said they were going to strip her down and build a racer out of her, I would croak.

7k for a 951S? I would consider that kinda insulting considering the extra set of wheels is about 10% of that amount. I would buy a clean 951S with an extra set of wheels for $7k if its local. Here, the prices are low too.

I think you did an excellent job! In fact, I just now set it as my desktop. That is saying a lot, considering that one of my favorite paintings, a 1520 Dosso Dossi painting that I photographed while at the National Gallery of Art was there previously.

Holy Crap 7K was just a number would you prefer a 10K dollar car vs a 100K dollar car. The point was and still is that a respray of a car with very little value generally does not hurt it and may ADD to the value if it is done well. When you get to much more rare or higher dollar cars a respray can take a considerable amount of the value, When you are dealing with a car of no more than 15-20K value a respray is hardly going to hurt that value.

As to the value I clearly stated that unless you frequently shop Canada for cars you have no clue. The value of 951s there is considerably more than here (aside from the currency exchange rate). You can reach any of the folks I mentioned on the list, those are their usernames.

In my case a respray most definitely increased the value of my car.
Face it, as much as we love our 944's they are not collectors items. Original paint (unless it's absolutely pristine) is not a huge selling point. A car with a good quality repaint will be much easier to sell than a car with chipped, faded, or oxidized original paint and will most likely demand a higher selling price.

A good stock 89 with 60,000 miles (96,000km) in Vancouver would probably net $17,000 CDN, add $4,000 if it is mint, and another $4,000 if it is in concours condition.

Nah, not really into Baltic so much. I prefer the Mexico, Riviera, and Maritime Blue colors.
