Default Saratoga top question

I've got one set up to but just don't have any clue what to ofrfer the guy for it. It's on a perfect less than 40K mile original car. He's an old hippie and has no idea what it's worth as it came with his car when he bought it. What do they bring used??

I know that this car has never been outside. The guy who owns it now has had for 5 years and has driven the twice. Get this, He changes the oil every three months and never even starts the car!! He's kinda weird though, you'd have to know him to understand.

if he doesn't know how much it's worth, start at $150. then go up to $200 if he seems hesitant.

There are at least two different kinds, and the gold ones with the ugly bumps on top are not worth as much.

I have a saratoga top without the seal around the outside. Do you know if a regular 968 seal will work?

Just buy the whole car cheap and part it out.

Seriously, from what you say the car is worth up to 7k without the top and 500 for the top. There are listers looking for something like that. buy the car, sell it for what you paid and take the top as commission. They are worth about $450. Thats what mine went for a bit more than a year ago.

I'm not sure if this is true. From some serial numbers I looked at, the gold ones with the bumps had a LATER serial number, so you would think it was the second generation of the design. My experience with the grey, framed one is it makes a lot of wind noise. It is possible the gold, bumped ones did this to a lesser degree. I know of a guy who might accept a decent offer for his gold one. Then again, he knows what it is worth from e-bay auctions back when they were .5 G's.

He wants to sell the top because it "isn't original" The car he's asking 9500 for but it's perfect he's owned it 5 years.89 red black int. not a scratch rock chip anything. If I can get the top for 250 or less I'll buy it just to have. my orig roof has a few flaws. we'll see what happens.

I don't know if its the same, but a regular 944 seal will not work (the metal fittings inside the seal is too big). I've got the same problem and I'm hoping to find a suitable replacement at some parts store or even Home Depot....
