Well....

To get it on the track I have to:

1) Drop and rebuild the engine (new belts, bearings, seals, valve job)

2) Paint

3) Install new suspension (working on finalizing this)

4) Finish and install a few CF interior parts, also flock the dash (got the stuff)

5) Hopefully install GT 80% lock-up LSD (if not, then early next year)

Biggest hold-up is likely to be paint prep (I also want to spray the engine bay).

This is interesting. So would it sorta look like suede, like the GT3 cars? Low-glare?

Exactly. I've been meaning to do it for some time, but I need a lot of space. I've got a car I'm trying to get out of my garage that is totaled and 99.9% stripped. Hopefully this week it will be gone and the flocking done.

But yes, the low glare is the exact thing I'm working towards. I think also with a little other work I've done it will hide cracks.

Interior of the 68 Firebird. Bought the parts last summer right after I sold the RX7, right before my buddy got sick, car got stolen and other buddy got murdered.

The parts have been sitting while I procrastinate. A lot of the work is plug and play. I redid the seats while my buddy was getting operated on, great mindless work to take the mind off of what really matters.

Herbie needs some work.
I'd like to take the rack off again and fix the seal that I put in off kilter.
Fix the minor electrical issues - defrost switch and cooling fans (on all the time with ignition).
Do the body work on the driver's side. The bondo work by one of the previous owners is cracking.
Fix the rear hatch frame issue.
Finally put the new wrap on the steering wheel.

Then there are the other projects:
Get one last winter out of Eagle 1 (it only has 212,000 miles on the clock)
Get "partial Eclipse" built up and ready to assume duties as the "ultimate rally machine" in the spring of '05. Only needs an engine, transaxle, transfer case, interior, paint and an electrical conversion from a '90 to accept '91 drivetrain - that's all.

Hopefully no repairs will be needed on Talon 2 after we run Tall Pines in November. It would be nice to just take the turbo restrictor out and have it ready for the winter (road) rallies and ice races.

Then, when all of those cars are finished (yeah, right) I can start restoring the olde Rally Colt.

That's it. Shouldn't take more than a couple of years worth of winters - if nothing else crops up in the meantime.

Hopefully pulling the dash out and rewiring. If I have the cash, putting in something fiberglass or carbon fiber to replace it. Vitesse Stage III, EBC, Injectors, Tial Wastegate, Harnesses and a few other goodies. It looks like I'm gonna spend my cash on a beater rather than winter tires for the 944 so that's good.

My attention this winter will be directed towards house work and fixing up the garage.....And then get the motor swap going in spring...Usually I just buy parts over winter......And I will be way busy with side jobs also this winter, and I dont think my car really needs anything else except power...

Where did u guys find a brake reservoir? I want a new one

But my list is kinda short:
1. Paint, it needs it bad!
2. replace all rubber
3. and some interior stuff.

Hopefully I can find a money tree so I can do all this

1. Sell 944
2. Buy 968

... If #1 doesn't work ill skip to #3

3. Convert 944 into track hooptie.

Before winter (not in order):

- 3M fine cut rubbing compound on all the paint, by hand. Fresh caranuba wax.
- thorough detail on the rest of the car, in and out
- Reseal the body seams in the battery area
- touch up any nicks in the finish that could lead to rust
- Replace driver side windshield washer jet
- CRC heavy-duty marine corrosion inhibitor on all exposed metal parts in, out, and under
- oil change, air filter, repack wheel bearings
- lubricate all moving parts
- switch over to snow tires

Winter:

- about 9,000 miles, give or take, of Porsche enjoyment
- couple of winter road rallies
- requisite maintenance along the way

The plan for the winter is to make some headway on the 924S to 951 powered 924 GTS project. What will get done this winter? Who knows
Will I finish this project? I sure hope so
