Ha, that's the picture I took to him. He drew the belt guard and roller where I put the orange annotations.

There is a metal guard there, but it is held at either end with a stud and nut. I don't recall any roller..

If he put a roller there it would be riding on the TOOTHED side of the cam belt!
No way. He's full of it.
Pull the front cover and snap a pic.

I am with Tony K on this one, get it all over the boards, here and pelican, with the dealership's name, and then send it to the service manager, owner etc.

Everything was replaced.

I know. That's what I was thinking. Plus there's no point in a roller at that spot. The tensioner is right there.

I will pull the covers this weekend. I don't have a camera but maybe can borrow one from somebody. You guys will be the first to know.

Unless he "updated" to the old style waterpump, I can't believe it be possible. I remember there is different roller for the old (haven't seen one in 5 years) waterpump. Take a picture of it and tell him to shove it.

Service manager time. If you've been lied to blatantly, how do you even know that the work was done at all? Or that all of it was done? Assuming the Clark's picture is drawn in proportion, a 32mm roller couldn't possibly fit there.

When I was over there, I had a pow-wow with three service managers and the mechanic. The service managers don't know the technical details. They believe anything the mechanic tells them. "If that's what Porsche says to put in there, then that's what we do."

I know they did the work because I asked for all the parts they took out. I wanted to see how they wore over the years. And my balance belt whines now, which it didn't before.

For the first 1500 miles, they run the belts tighter than after the retensioning. A small amount of whine is expected.

Damn, StoogeMoe. I'm really interested in the outcome of this debate. I'm glad you're gonna take that cover off and find out!! I'm gonna be hovering over this post during the weekend. LoL
If its true that he did rip you off and try to cover his tracks countless times, they better give you a refund promptly without question. That is unacceptable from the dealership. If they still question you, prep up a gigantic coup de Porsche dealership on the web, and then send that to the regional supervisor for the Porsche service department in your area! Ha, thats how you REALLY get people up a tree!
Then after sucess, sit back and uncap a GERMAN LAGER!!

Default Dealer is trying to rip me off! Results are in - Dealer DID rip me off!!!

I took off the covers this morning, and it's what you'd expect to find. It matches that drawing from Clark's garage. There are only two rollers in there, not three! Can I swear now? And get this. There is NO belt guard installed like there is supposed to be, and that the mechanic said was in there. I can't believe they kept sticking to their story and try to challenge my position.

So here is the name of the dealer in Allentown PA.

Knopf Automotive

Stay away if you own a 944. In fact, you may want to stay away period. They're building a brand new showroom and new service area. I guess these overcharges are funding the new construction.

How dare they mess with the combined knowledge of the Rennlist forum? Thanks guys. I will become a registered member real soon.

The fireworks are going to go off on Monday. Just wait til they see me walk in there again!

Go get 'em!

You may as well leave the cover off when you go over there and ask them to point out the three rollers.

Go striaight to the top guy. Don't bother with the mechanic or anyone else. Demand satisfaction and don't settle for less. If they try to blow you off, make sure that you are loud enough to be heard by other customers in the showroom.
I hate dealerships.
