New tranny and I'm back in the game (pics of car)
Well, I had my new gearbox put in and my car is getting closer and closer to perfect! (I know, never happen with the turbo monkey on my back). I was just feeling proud, so I wanted to post some photos. Opinions welcome, unless you don't like it ha ha!

Thanks! I like the big cat, too! I need to sell it, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Actually, when I went to pick my car up n Tulsa last night, a friend went with me and drove my Jag back. I was winding it up a little and pulling pretty hard up to about 110mph and my friend (a girl) comes blowing past me in the Jag at probably 130mph? I was firmly put in my place. That Jag is a really FAST car.

The wheel is just a Grant with a turbo script horn button. I just really hate the bevel on the stock 86 wheel so I bought the least expensive one I could find that still looked cool. I got the guages on Ebay. I'm not sure where you can buy them. You can't tell in the pictures but the only unused warning light is the "servo". Kinda cool, though. Hey, while I have your attention: I noticed a pretty significant "clunk" when I take off in first gear. Like I said, I just had my tranny replaced and, to me, it sounds like a loose axle or like a cv joint kind of clunk. It is in the rear and sounds like in the middle or right side. Any ideas???

Ya, the xjr's are very cool. Too bad I've heard major reliability issued with jaguars; and difficult maintenance work. Theyre getting really cheap; depreciate just like any other british car. Maybe one day...
I like your car a lot, but i prefer bone stock interior. Keep up the good work.

Riff, I have the same gauge faces. I bought mine from Joseph Mitro but I think they are from a company called Driver's Gauges. They show up on Ebay from time to time.

Oilslick964: Yup, could be your CVs, but it depends on exactly when you hear the 'clunk'. It wouldn't be too hard to take off a wheel and have a look-see. Those things always go on the 951s...

Actually, the 95+ Jags are very reliable. They finally wised up and put good electricals in them, as well as Mercedes trannys, good brakes, etc... The maintenance isn't that expensive, it is just tough to find someone to do it. Once you find a good wrench, the XJR is a lot like driving a really fast Lexus (maybe not THAT reliable, but not far off) and a lot prettier!
tifosiman- I broke some teeth off reverse. A buddy was driving it and he, of course, tells me it just started making a terrible noise, but I'm pretty sure he went from 5th to reverse or something. The mechanic said it was definately not a wear issue, but a traumatic breakage issue. Friends don't let friends drive their Porsches.
As a side note: I have the car out in front of my office today and 3 different people have come in asking if it is for sale. I told them no. (not yet...)

So, instead of having a new reverse gear installed, you replaced the whole trans? What did you do with the old one? Use it as a core or keep it for a paperweight?
