Tifo-
Yeah, we're still friends. If he had any money, I'm sure he'd offer to help out with the repair bill. I didn't bother him with it, I've been broke a good part of my life too, so I can certainly understand his position! It was like $300 more to just replace the whole tranny and it is warrantied for a year, so I opted for that. My mechanic in Tulsa has some incredible cars over there. A speed yellow C4s, an Arena red twin turbo and the piec de resistance, a dark grey Ferrari 550 Marinello. My GOD, that 550 is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! It was worth the extra $300 just to drool on that for 10 minutes!

Pete and Tifo - Thanks for the info, I'll give it a look.

Not to hijack the thread, but one other question about the gauge faces for all of you. Are the warning areas on the faces permanently showing (text is printed on the face) or do they simply light up when illuminated from the lamps behind?

Thanks!

Here's a shot of mine. I think that the warning areas are always showing and just light up, I'll need to go home and check......

How come you take your car all the way to Tulsa?

Buds in Fayetteville, and Ozark imports have always done good work for me.

xboost- Yep, I do! I guess you traded it off, huh? Sounds like the Porsche bug got you, didn't it? Well, if its any consolation, I've had 4 other Harleys since yours, si that bug works both way!

7th stranger- Buds does decent work, but they are so cramped I'm always afraid I'll get my car back with door dings and stuff. Now Ozark Imports...don't even get me started! I wouldn't take a bicycle there to get a flat fixed! I got my fill of paying them to learn how to work on a car! The owner is a super nice guy, but I have had 4 or 5 seperate occasions where I paid from $700 to $1100 for repairs that did not fix the problem. They're reputation has really gone downhill since the dad (Bob Vining) retired. They are the only place that most people here know about, so they have that business, but most of the guys who know anything around here will drive to Tulsa and deal with Tom Charlseworth or John Reaves. May cost a bit more, but it will be done correctly!

I have only used Ozarks once, but yes Buds shop can be kind of scary at times.

Although they have worked on my car serveral times and have always taken good care of it.
Except one time when I left my truck outside their gate one night and it got broken into. But that wasn't there fault.

tifosiman-
I guess my mechanic still has it. It wasn't clear if I was credited for a core for it or not. I'll try and call him tomorrow and see what the word is with it. I'll let you know what I find out, ok?

7thstranger-
Yeah, Bud's is in a pretty bad part of town. I like Big Paul down there. He did some work on my 928s and he knows those cars very well. He has also helped me out over the phone and at the shop by answering questions or diagnosing wierd goings on free of charge (even when I begged him to let me give him a little $$$ for his time). He is just "good people".
