Default I'm a dummy

I was installing my new air/fuel ratio gauge from Rennbay tonight and the hot & ground wires accidently touched.
I hate the smell of toasted cicuit boards. Oh well At least I don't have to look at my dying clock now. I can look at dead LED's.

Sorry to hear that, Pete! I'm going to be tackling the job soon, and this makes me a bit nervous.

I know, I know. I was testing the thing and dropped it. It was hanging by the wires and they touched slightly and POOF!
I've already given myself 50 lashes with a used timing belt.

Well at least you didn't have to clean up 5.5 quarts of Mobile One off the garage floor.

Pete, sure youre a moron, but its ok! i did the same thing with my license plate lights last fall when i put put the original bumper back on. touched the live to a ground on accident, the wires sparked, got real hot, and they dont work no mo'.. no juice or anything from the wires, no burnt fuses, and no clue how to fix it short of following wires from the back of the car, through the firewall and body all the way through neverland, to only god knows where.

keep your head up. you'll get it

Doubtful Sid will show up....He's in an undisclosed location duct taped to a chair..He cant talk with the battery cables attached and electricity on.. Oops, I let too much slip out already...

Muuhahahah SO KNOW, I have the power...

"Remove the f'ing ground!!" **

Pete that completly stinks. I hav gotten in the "knee-jerk" remove the battery cable for damn near anything. I'm starting to think that removing the battery cables anytime the car isnt running could be a viable option

Pete,
reverse voltage usually only blows the voltage regulator on the gauge. Send it back and I will fix it up for you or send you out a replacement.

Pete, that is a great location for the gauge (mine's there too). Are you doing a matching oil pressure gauge too? I have mine set up that way, and if I did it again, I'd put the A/F gauge on the driver's side so I could see it better. I guess it works okay where it is though - girls love watching the "pretty lights jump"
