Default Screwed - Cannot Open Passenger Door

I was changing door handles, today. Somehow I managed to get something bound up. I cannot open the door using either the Door Handle or interior handle. Outer is stuck, cannot move the lever. The lock is down, and I cannot get it to the unlocked position. I don't believe I am the first moron to do this. I need help, or I am going to get the jaws of life.

Probalby not the BEST option, but what I would probably do is lower the window completely, stick a slim jim down there,, and start yanking on everything!

Been screwing around with that. No luck yet. I was able to pull the interior door panel back to see the bottom of the lock arm, can't get it to move.

No, Pete, you're the first.

Seriously, it sounds like you'll need to remove the inner door panel and try to unlock the door.

Tough situation. Hopefully someone will have specific info for you.

Good luck.

I am not sure I can get the whole panel off. Will try that.

OK, the whole panel cannot come off since some of the screws are blocked. If I can trip the lock, the door should open, but I need to be able to separate the outer door handle from the lock mechanism with extremely limited access.....

to get to all the screws that hold the panel on, youll probably have to remove the seat... D'oh! Although hopefully you can get to them by moving the seat back and fowards.

remove the passenger seat and race it..

is it possible tha little plastic piece broke- you know, the weak part of the link? Is the lock stud stuck inside the door panel?

All the parts are there, and together. It is just that I must have gotten the lock mechanism and door actuator tangled. They are bound and I cannot clear them. It was stupid, and now I am being punished.

Sounds like you connected the lock accuator(plastic rod) 'behind' the finger release lever that opens the door. You need to pop the round end off the socket, flip it up and forward and reconnect. You're in a fix since you can't get the door panel off. I did the same thing last month but luckily tried the finger pull first with the door open. A slim jim on these cars works front to rear but if it's jammed I'm not sure it would work at all. Good Luck, this could be a tough one.

Edit: If you remember where that plastic rod connects you might be able to pop it off the ball if you have something thin and rigid enough to use for a lever with the window up. Just a thought

I think that is exactly what I did. The anti theft plate makes getting to that little rod tough, but I think you are on to something. Will give it a go...need more beer.
