Final Question: 968 vs 944S
Hopefully this will be the last time I bother asking a question like this. Have to choose between a 968 and a 944S. All thought are welcome. What are the differences between the 2 cars. As usual all help is much appreciated.

They both do not have turbos. That is all you need to know. just kidding....variocam/no variocam, 6-speed/5-speed, 3.0/2.5, more power/less power, updated lines/olderlines...good luck

The S has the less powerful 2.7ltr motor. Everything is newer and better on the 968. 968 will be more expensive to buy. Repairs will be about the same. Variocam alows the valve time to vary based on engine speed. Better than Vtec because Vtec is on or off only.
Buy the 968 if you can afford it.

I personally would never put a 944S and a 968 into the same sentence. You are right, an S2 would be a much better comparison. Even so, IMO, a 968 comes out on top.

They were all 2.5 up until the S2's 3.0 and the 89's 2.7.

post the mileage of the two cars, and what each car will need/recently had done. You know the old saying, the most expensive car is the cheap one.
I would take a low mileage clean S over a high mileage, maintenance hungry 968. But I am the minority because I dont want to deal with the $$ involved in making a car right.
I can get a great deal on a straight. average mileage 90 928 from a friend of the family. buying the car will cost me about $5,000 which is less than the past years receipts. Getting it to run properly, fixing the little things like the tire pressure monitor etc. ..... I think I will keep a friend and keep the Camaro. Reliability is a nice thing...
also, tuesday is no good. this week is starting to look bad for me with relatives coming over for next weeks holidays.
