Default Has any one ever lost a timing belt and NOT bent valves?

I realize I am probably dreaming here but, is this even possible? to slip the belt and NOT bend valves?

Yes, I believe there have been cases of someone being so fortunate, but it's not generally the case. Good luck, if this just happened to you.

I stripped my timing belt, repeatedly turned it over and only ended up with 1 bent valve. Car was at idle when it stripped and died though also.

MY PO stripped the TB while doing a TB change. It bent all the valves, but only one cylinder was bent bad enough to cause problems.

Although it still cost me 2 grnd to replace all the valves.

I stripped the belt and ended up with no bent valves. I have heard it is extremely rare, all the stars must line up in some sort of celestial river dance or something.

btw - it happened while starting the car and I guess that's the best situation because the engine isn't running at high rpm's.

Well Mine happened as I had pushed in the clutch and was coasting to a stop at a stop sign. My plan is replace the T belt and then crank it over by hand and check the compression. If all the stars were lined up in some sort of celestial river dance I will thank all of them and then some.

My 86' NA skipped about 10 teeth and grenaded the entire block. After assessing the damage- I realized the timing belt looked good enough to re-use. I didn't though...its glass-framed on my garage wall now.
