Hey all, I recently purchased a black 86 951 for 800.00 ( i have a bill of sale for proof!) Any how, it needs alot of work because it sat in this guys yard for 3 years while he saved for a clutch he never got. Anyway just wanted to say hi , im sure im gonna be needing advise as I get deeper into this sucker, Im shooting to have it road bound by xmas.

Welcome, Derek.

My first, most sincere piece of advice to you is this: CHANGE YOUR TIMING BELT ASAP, and strongly consider your water pump. Regardless of what the PO said. Just do it.

Biggest problem on these cars, and I got bitten (and paid $5500 for mine, which was a bargain at that price). My belt went with 7k miles on it, and if yours fails it means a top end rebuild.

Just do it, and then you're set to start your ownership and other repairs.

yeah thanks, Ive got it on jack stands with all the interior pretty much ripped out, I just ordered a roll bar from Lindsey and soon I will pull the engine and get it sent for a long block rebuild, Im not gonna take any chances with a car thats been sitting for that long.

congrats, 86 was a good year for the turbos, may want to convert to a two piece crossover pipe though, just to save frustration.
