I drive a whole 40-ft to the garage to get to work. Otherwise, my computer customers are at various distances from me, most are within 15 miles, some are hundreds away.

I'm not sure about the distance, but I think it's close to 15 miles. It takes 20 minutes to get there in the morning and 24 minutes in the afternoon. We have a 9/80 schedule and most of us like to show up around 6:30 so we can beat traffic.

Scary.. I used to commute by bike year round in Chicago- 19 miles each way.. I now have a 5 mile commute each way.

The worst commute I had was from Ottawa to Bellwood IL- 96 miles each way2 hours plus each way. I did that haul for 2 years. (2000 miles plus a month- 30K miles a year plus business trips- I would put 50K miles on a car in a year!!)
Shortest commute- 13 stairs from my bedroom to the office downstairs.

My office is 50 miles away (about 1 hour 15 minutes on a good day) fortunately I only have to go in about once a week most weeks but at least 2 other days I have to drive between 50 and 100 miles to a survey site so I do a lot of miles.
I get paid real well otherwise I wouldn't do the miles.
You do switch off to it after a while, especially coming home when I just cruise the bendy twisty country roads at 60mph and listen to the radio.I find I arrive home relaxed and de-stressed.
What could be better than doing that in you're fav car?!
A bike would be cheaper and quicker save the miles on the car.

Daily Work Commute
The average one-way ticket to my place of work runs about 30-45min. Since I now drive the 951 to work- the journey definitely becomes that. If I leave 10min early- I can beat the synchronized rush of commuters, by staying ahead of this wave of rat-racers. If I fall behind 10-15min...then I have to compete hard for the fast lane, battling 40-foot Tractor-Trailers, Wide-Loads, SUVs, and glittery, streetwise/track dumb Japanese imports.
My daily commute has me crossing the worlds' longest non-suspension bridge: the Bay Areas' San Mateo Bridge. Spanning over nine miles, this bumpy, windy, and gradient suspension-killer, gives me the opportunity to really open up the throttle, once the light is green(toll paid). In fact- most bridge crossers know the span is a nine-mile dragstrip. Maximum(non-legal) speeds attainable just before the grade starts is 100+mph. Its amusing to see at what speed the fairly steep, 3-mile, 25-degree slope will slow us down to without downshifting. Just before the downhill end of the crossing- we all know that the CHP waits at the bottom of the bridge, to nab those drag racers, whose parachutes fail to deploy. Armed with new 2004 Camaro Z28s- the cops' newest pursuit dawg is nothing to be taunting at all. I use the civilized homestretch, as a chance to cool-down the KKK brothers' quarreling.
As I enter my office plaza- my car parks among the best in the world. A sea of Mercedes, Ferrari, BMW, Porsche and Lexus' crowd the tri-level parking structure daily. Even before my day at work ends- I am already plotting my next route home, in the 951. Funny, since getting this car- I have been arriving too early!

I drive 55 miles one way each day, M-F, and have been for 3 years. I drive the 951 in nice weather and the Exploder in the winter. It takes right at an hour in the car, about an hour and ten minutes in the truck. The difference in times is due to the ability to pass: my drive is 90% two lane rural roads. I'll tell ya sump'n: it's getting old. You need to have two cars. If one of them breaks down, it's not like you can ride the bus! I have only missed one day in three years due to car trouble; not b/c I don't have trouble, but b/c I have a spare vehicle. I really don't believe a $170 train pass is all that bad.

My comute is 37 miles each way, about 1-1.25 hrs each way.
Don't mind the driving, but what I would consider are the hours. 8ish to 5 ish isn't bad, any later and it cuts into dinner and time at night for other activities.
