I actually looked at a setup for my 924S today. I never used to be a fan until My dad bought the 951S that had a sub...it does sound really nice. so now I'm looking. Not anything big, but just to get a little more bass. these 4x6's we have stock in these cars suck. I even bought an expensive pair, and they suck so yeah.

Hi Geoff,
Do it!
And take a look at some of the other posts on replacing speakers, crossovers, sound deadening/dampening, amplification etc. You can get some good sound in there, but yes, you will likely need a sub and there will be some other tweaks involved. Remember it's an audio 'system' and all the bits need to work together.
Take a look at some of the other posts from me and some others. There was a good thread that developed around a rear speaker replacement in a 951 that has some good stuff in it. And if you do some searching on KLA you'll also find some good stuff on their subs.
I know far more about audio than I do about cars, so feel free to ping me with any questions on the audio front.
Good luck,
Phil

Burning Brakes
I have a very nice Nakamichi 8" sub in the trunk of my Cabriolet in a custom acrylic enclosure. It hardly takes any space at all and gives me nice tight base to go with my Infinity seperates. All very clean and crisp sound with some punch but not obnoxious ghetto bass. What ever you do don't go obnoxious ghetto bass, you will look like a fool.

I fiberglassed the inside of my spare tire well and then fiberglassed it over. I put a 12 inch Kicker Comp VR speaker in the top connected to a sony Xpload 500 watt amp. It sounds really good in the car plus its hidden away. The only downside is you cant carry a spare there anymore.

Nakamichi sp80s are great subwoofers but require a fairly large enclosure for proper resonance. I used to rebuild those speakers and rewind the voice coils from people bottoming them out or frying them. Infinity speakers are good but I like the sp10, sp50, and 80 combo or use one sp1010 instead of 2 80s.

I am joining this thread very late, but IMO if you have subs that are visible in your car, it is probably over the top. Enclosed is nice, but again, seeing a huge box in a hatch is never that attractive. And beleive me, Porsche are supposed to look good.
