Default MSDS headers worth it?

just noticed this ebay auction for MSDS headers which apparently have wonderful claims. how much do they actually improve performance? are they worth the $200 price?

Looks like you can buy a new set from MSDS for $207.

I'm also interested in these headers. What kind of gains could one expect with headers and a test pipe?

from what I've read, the Porsche headers are very good. Even Speedforce Racing said stay with stock headers when replacing the exhaust system. Thats all they said though - they never mentioned how much you could possibly gain by changing them. My guess - not more than 4 horses.

Someone told me you could get 15-20 HP on an NA from K&N filter, headers, and test pipe. That would be worthwhile. But 4hp wouldn't IMHO. Money is better spent on suspension and weight reduction (not to mention track time).

The filter and headers dont do **** to an n/a. The test pipe helps..but less than 10 hp.

What?! What size bong are you smoking (with all due respect)?

A test pipe is in no way gonna give you that much of a gain. That's a 10% increase. No way.

Headers, a test pipe, and a cone filter are not gonna do that for you either. It may even hurt performance, because a 944 needs some back pressure for the low end grunt. That is why a 3" exhaust is not recommended.

Um........................ah......................................NO. Maybe on a track car where it is at a constant 5-6Krpm with no stop and start corners. But on a street car? Give me grunt any day.

if anyone has the 12/01 issue of grassroots motor sports they supposedly list the performance figures. there's a write up of part the story here: http://www.grmotorsports.com/proj944.html
the only hp increase printed was 5hp from a ss borla exhaust. i think more importantly than the hp would be the weight savings from switching out the header.

I drove the GRM 944 after they sold it to a local buyer when the article was finished. It had no low end grunt. It did feel a *little* peppier in the higher revs.

I have a picture somewhere of it in my driveway next to my car. That was a good looking 944.
