944 as a cargo van
I fit 500 square feet of laminate flooring in the back of my 944! That's 25 cartons. I'm impressed! It's an unusual cargo vehicle, but I'm not complaining!
Happy driving,

Hey mountain bikers...
I ride on a 19" frame and for years I was able to fit my entire Rockhopper in the back of my 83 944 in the cargo space *with the back seats UP*.
With the seat and wheels removed, it fits snuggly but comfortably. I would open a sheet in the rear hatch area so the edges hang out over the outside of the car and back seat, lay the frame in and then the wheels and seat, and then wrap it with the ends of the sheet. No dirt or stains, and it stayed in place. Never had any damage other than a light scratch one time. I know you guys who are serious about riding or compete would never do anything like this, but I only spent a few hundred dollars on my bike and rode it a *lot*, and this worked great for me!
Cheers,

Race Car
I used one of my 944 as a truck before I bought a truck. I went to a garage sale and bought my 4th rollaway tool chest and put both the top and bottom box in the 944 along with several other items like an inflatable 5 person rubber boat. I couldn't carry the 10 inch radial saw and table so I went home and got the $200 ford aerostar I use as mobile storage (yes amazing enough it runs well enough for me to drive it around).

Yeah - Try THAT in a aircooled, flat-6, overgrown VW !
I've moved myself to several new apartments with my car the past few years; it's not the best, but it worked ok, especially if I didn't have a mini-van or truck handy. At least we can say that they may not be totally great for backseat passengers, but at least they are practical enough to haul medium size things around when neccesary. It's a sportscar still!
