Well, got the Saratoga top back to the house in one piece. The glass is in perfect shape, but the adhesive holding the metal frame on the roof has just about completely failed, and the seals have definitely seen better days.

I have started the restoration effort by first gently removing the frame, and scraping all the old adhesive off with a razor. Next step is to try and find a suitable replacement for the seal. Also, the foam seal on the underside is coming off by the corners and needs to be glued. Then, it will be installing the new seal and re-gluing the metal frame.

Anyone replaced a seal on their Saratoga top before? Does the standard Porsche sunroof seal fit? I am guessing that Saratoga doesn't stock replacement parts for these. Any recommendations on sealant for the frame? It is aluminum. I thought I saw that someone else had used a 3M product on something similar.

TIA,
Keith

Well, Saratoga is out of business, so replacement parts should out of the question.

I *think* the seal from a 944 roof panel won't work, from comparing the two before I shipped mine out, the seal on the sartoga attaches on the outside perimeter of the panel, while the Porsche seal attaches on the underside over the lip. A good sunroof/trim place should be able to fabricate a new seal for you, probably even better than the one that came stock on the saratoga.

How much did you buy that one for? The one I sold for $450 was perfect and never used.

Tifo,

I came to the same conclusion when I took a close look at the seal on my 951 sunroof last night. The profile on the seal is totally different. I will check out some glass shops to see if they carry the right size seal.

I paid $200. It should be worth it if I can get it all back together again.

Keith. Offer still stands that I'll buy it back from you if you cannot fix it.
