Hello everyone!
Just wondering if anyone is interested in a group buy on a short shift kit?
The kit is available for $85 (if we can get 10 or more people in) and is the type that attaches to the transaxle. 944Racing produces these kits and they are top quality.
Anyone interested?

"It attaches to the transaxle"
Is this the version that requires cutting, and all the companies that sell them suggest that a proffessional installs them?
If not, I might be in on this.

No it just bolts right on.
Check out the instructions at http://www.944racing.com/Tech/944RSSK/944RSSK.htm
Yes, they shorten the throws on the shifter to what they are SUPPOSED to feel like! It's a great improvement. Tightens up the shift gate nicely (assuming that your shift lever is still in good shape and not worn).

I've got the Weltmeister one, which is essentially the same except it's adjustable, and the 944racing one is not. I've heard that the 944racing one is the same as the adjustable ones set on the shortest throw and gate (which is what I have mine set to). I love mine, and it was nearly twice as much as the proposed group buy price.

fezz... I've got one. I like it. It's a quality kit, materials, not difficult to install. Provides substantially shorter throws, firmer, more solid shifts (a little additional effort is required). Use safety wire as instructed and attend to any slop at the shift lever and you'll have a nice setup, IMHO.

Are these things really worthwhile? It seems like a helluva lot of work for something that in the long run really doesn't change anything. The car still shifts gears with or without a "short throw" kit, right? Do these things really matter that much?
